Dancing... or drinking through life
I am not even sure that I know how to do a link anymore. I'm giving it a shot though so, three readers, please forgive me if I mess this up.
So Rod Dreher's sister is battling cancer. It is nasty. Their faith is extraordinary. Here's his latest post (I think)
There are 8 comments on it.

Back...
I'm back here at JWalking after a bit of time because I just want someplace to record thoughts from time to time. I doubt that many of the thoughts will be political - there are plenty upon plenty of people offering their opinions on everything political and I doubt that I have much to add that will

Learning to tell a story
For the last ten months or so I've been engaged in a completely different world - the world of screenwriting. It began as a writing project - probably the 21st Century version of a yen to write the great American novel - a shot at a screenplay. I knew that I knew nothing about the art but was inspir

And just one more
I have, I think, just one more round of chemo left.
When I go through my pill popping regimen tomorrow morning it will be the last time for this particular round of drugs. Twenty-three rounds, it seems, is enough.
What comes next? We'll go back to what we did after the surgery. We'll watch and measu

A Newfie for Obama
NPR asked me to do a short memo to the president-elect. I chose to do it on the dog he should choose... and why. Check it out.

I was never comfortable with Huckabee as a candidate, but I love him as a commentator.

I find Obama and Huckabee both appealing candidates because the way they walk in there faith there is a sense of humility that resonates that some in the public just can’t get.

Huckabee’s statements and actions are compatible with the Gospel and Apostolic witness. Pastor Wright’s do also, but only in what he should repent of and be forgiven for. If both Wright and Obama want to follow the Gospel and Apostles teachings, then that would be good for everyone. Huckabee showed once again, that he was the best candidate to “lead” this country forward.

Thank you for posting this – of course Huckabee is understanding and coherent (I voted for him so this isn’t dissing the man) – he is NOT in the campaign now. The campaign process is no longer about discussing issues – it is assaulting the very character and life of any person sticking their head up out of the masses trying to gain public office. I am not an Obama fan for reasons of policy and issues. Won’t argue those because there is no arguing values (nothing useful to be gained). Senator Obama has handled himself well in a very difficult situation. Is this a defining moment in American racial relations? – no- hundreds of years of history aren’t wiped away in a week. Is it good to open the discussion on a level of nationwide attention? – absolutely. Demonizing “them” (whoever doesn’t agree with one’s viewpoint) is not using discernment. To quote a much less reputable and learned man – Rodney King was right – can’t we all just get along? Discuss, explain, LISTEN to one another – old saying that God gave us one mouth and two ears and two eyes for a reason – listen and observe twice as much as we talk.

G-d bless Mike Huckabee (says this ultra-liberal).
