Here is a beautiful, beautiful story from Friday's Washington Post. Read it all, please.

Kudos to the Post for running it.

Thanks to the Pope for coming to Washington because I sense that his presence makes such talk of deeper things more acceptable, more necessary even. Would that he stayed for a while.

It took all I could do, like his girlfriend, from crying by the end of the story ...

More than the horror of his illness, what I was struck by was how teen-agers, the girl in particular, could have such fidelity with each other under such brutal circumstances -- at the very age where people would understand if she said, "No, I can't handle it" -- while couples who are their parents' and grandparents' age split up for the most frivolous of reasons.

(Yes, I am a divorcee, but I battled for my marriage as long as humanly possible -- not, in the argot of your erstwhile political party, David, "cutting and running.")

Larry,"cutting and running might be a blessing compared to the cess pool America is in. Many lives are wasted for greed. Billions of dollars each month spent to fill the coffers of corporates crooks and contractors. The '100 years was is going to be very costtly. Americans are going to be,and already is ,hungery, homeless, jobless etc. Do you know anyone inthat catogory? Let's cut and run. save lives, and money. The Iraqis banks are already full.

The church needs to know Christ. The GOP is not your god.
