Dancing... or drinking through life
I am not even sure that I know how to do a link anymore. I'm giving it a shot though so, three readers, please forgive me if I mess this up.
So Rod Dreher's sister is battling cancer. It is nasty. Their faith is extraordinary. Here's his latest post (I think)
There are 8 comments on it.

Back...
I'm back here at JWalking after a bit of time because I just want someplace to record thoughts from time to time. I doubt that many of the thoughts will be political - there are plenty upon plenty of people offering their opinions on everything political and I doubt that I have much to add that will

Learning to tell a story
For the last ten months or so I've been engaged in a completely different world - the world of screenwriting. It began as a writing project - probably the 21st Century version of a yen to write the great American novel - a shot at a screenplay. I knew that I knew nothing about the art but was inspir

And just one more
I have, I think, just one more round of chemo left.
When I go through my pill popping regimen tomorrow morning it will be the last time for this particular round of drugs. Twenty-three rounds, it seems, is enough.
What comes next? We'll go back to what we did after the surgery. We'll watch and measu

A Newfie for Obama
NPR asked me to do a short memo to the president-elect. I chose to do it on the dog he should choose... and why. Check it out.

Don’t knock quarks.
If God (who is Love) somehow withdrew his presence from creation, would the electrons stay in their orbits? Or would the entire creation simply collapse at a subatomic level? Because I’m not a deist, I believe the latter.
“Chance” is just a word for things we don’t understand, and perhaps aren’t meant to understand. I don’t know if God willed the coincidences you describe; it’s one of those things we aren’t meant to know. But if they gave rise to a leading from the Spirit, then what difference does it make? Yes, God winks.
Good to have you back, David.

God winks at simpletons most often, I think.

While living in Ghana, I saw God “winking” a lot more there than I do here in Canada. As a culture, we’ve either learned to live without God or house him in a separate compartment, pulling him out when we need him.
I suppose we can discern whether they are winks by how the spirit uses them to deepen our love for and commitment to God/people.

Dude,
I’ve been getting free daily messages from Conversations With God author, Neale Donald Walsch (who happens to be a Beliefnet Blogger), and I gotta say that the timing of a lot of ‘em is incredible.
I do think it’s worthwhile to look for those little winks too. And if New Age stuff ain’t your trick, well that’s okay too.
Didn’t Jesus urge us to be vigilant? Didn’t he say the day of the Lord is at hand? Heck, I think in Luke he even said that the kingdom of God is within.

I’m so glad you’re writing again. You have been in our prayers.

You have made such an impact on my life David, that I feel your presence every day. You must have a decent wink yourself.
