I’m going to take an oppositional stand right now as, once again, my tongue nearly pushes through my cheek:
1. The Holocaust never occurred
2. Evolution is false
3. Global warming is a hoax
4. Mercury is composed of cow snot, not iron
5. Ahknatan is the creator of the universe
What good is an oppositional stand if it is, quite frankly, based on ridiculous logic, mythology, desire for conflict, or inconsistencies?
If being Jewish is about emulating Lieberman by being inconsistent and obstinate… time to find a new faith. The good people of Connecticut deserve better, hopefully they will vote him out.

um–excuse me Dan. Evolution in the pure sense is not a good explanation of reality and global warming is not true if one is to assume that mankind’s CO2 emissions are significantly and detrimentally harming the planet. Everyone believes in evolution in one sense and everyone sees global warming. The questions remain: is “natural selection” real and does it explain the evolution of life–no. Has man’s CO2 emissions caused the planet to warm and will that warming hurt us–the answer is again–no.
But contra, David K–Lieberman will be a good liberal and vote for the monstrous Senate tax bill which is only tangentially involved with health care. He always goes liberal with his voting–even if he stood up for John McCain (who is no conservative) and is culturally conservative in a couple of ways–disliking pornography, etc.

Your point vis-a-vis Senator Lieberman is well-taken, David. I saw an editorial a few days ago implying that he is out-of-step with both his constituents and his Jewish faith. Such sentiments are strikingly similar in principle to accusations of “acting white” hurled by blacks at fellow blacks who don’t conduct themselves in a manner that’s considered sufficiently “black,” like studying hard in school, or voting for anyone to the right of Jesse Jackson. Since when are all Jews supposed to be lock-step liberals? When in Jewish history, prior to America in the 20th and 21st centuries, has that ever been the case? In Israel it’s okay (or at least since May 1977 it’s been okay) not to be a liberal, but here in America you can hardly be considered a real Jew if you’re not a liberal. I have news for the let’s-impugn-Lieberman’s-Jewishness folks: it’s you whose Jewishness might be questionable: questionable in the sense that you are profoundly ignorant of the diversity within Jewish history, and the varieties of “permissible” political viewpoints among Jewish communities outside of North America.

My problem with Lieberman is that first, he said that he would support the Medicare buy in, for people 55 through 64; then he said that he would oppose it. That does not make sense to me.
