You CAN use your power to attract all that you need. I do it every day! Read all the posts in my Law of Attraction in Action Series to see how.

How many times have you seen a child give up on doing something in disgust and affirm, “I can’t do it!” Then we give encouragement and support and the child tries and tries again, and learns he or she CAN do it. Kids can be easier to teach. As we grow up, we can keep a memory of failure alive and allow it to keep us from trying something that we couldn’t do or that didn’t work out before. It’s common to say, “I can’t do it!” when something seems too hard to try. Often we just give up to avoid overt failure.

Not being able to do something at this moment doesn’t have to be true forever. Insisting, “I can’t do it!” means you refuse to try and gets support from the Universe.

While there are some things you may never be able to do, often we become a self-fulfilling prophesy using those four small words. Usually there’s a negative emotion attached to that declaration, which adds fuel for the Law of Attraction to return to you as your truth. Why limit yourself that way? One of my all-time favorite quotes is a popular one from Henry Ford. He said, “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right.” He knew how the Law of attraction works.

If you think you can do something, you will begin your effort in a positive state of mind and determination to achieve. You may feel excited or confident or many other positive emotions that get the Law of Attraction on your side to do it. If you think you can’t do something, negative emotions will also get support and keep you from finding out if maybe you could do it if you tried with an open mind. Next time, see where your belief comes from and try to do something about it. For example, I’ve heard:

•    “I’m a lousy writer and can’t write a report properly.” Ask for help and learn how to improve your skills. Often we’re “not good enough” because we need skills or knowledge. Those can be acquired if you stop affirming, “I can’t do it!”

•    “I always screw up relationships so I can’t get married.” Just because you’ve had some bad ones doesn’t mean you can never find the right person to be with.

•    “I’ve always been a klutz so I can’t do any sports.” Often the klutz part is from years ago, or childhood, and keeping it alive in your thoughts by believing you can’t do many things because of it attracts more klutzy moves and the “I can’t do it!” keeps you from doing it..

Mahatma Gandhi said, “Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I shall have the belief that I can do it. I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if I may not have it at the beginning.

Do what you can to keep “can’t” out of your vocabulary as much as possible.

Saying “I can’t” becomes an automatic habit for many people. Something that seems hard or is just different from anything you’ve done elicits “I can’t” as the response. The truth is, “I can’t” really means “I won’t.”

•    “I won’t try to do it.”
•    “I won’t risk failure by trying.”
•    “I won’t do something out of my comfort zone.”
•    “I won’t try something that I couldn’t do in the past.”

Decide if you can’t or won’t next time you say “I can’t do it.” Remember that the Universe is listening and the Law of Attraction will return to you what you put out. Now if you don’t WANT to do it, say that. But using “I can’t” sends a message that will attract more and more limits for you. Using “I can’t do it!” can put you into a teeny box that keeps you from taking risks and having more fun and attracting wonderful opportunities. Even if you think you can’t, be willing to at least try.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised many times about how much I’m capable of doing by giving it a chance or learning a skill and getting someone to walk me through it. For years I said I can’t do my own web stuff. When someone suggested I get some simple software to edit my website I freaked at first, with “I can’t do it!” in high decibels. Then I thought about it and decided to break that belief and affirmed my desire to do it. I got the software and hired someone to show me how to use it. In an hour and a half I was able to do it myself.

It’s so lovely to surprise yourself with what you can achieve when you align your thoughts to do it.

Be careful about how your thoughts and beliefs limit you. Almost everything can be done if you set your mind to it in a positive way. For me it’s a miracle that I can edit my website. What I paid to learn how was much less than it cost me to get help doing it whenever I needed an update. And, I can update my site more frequently now. YOU limit YOU. And YOU can change your beliefs to attract a to more. YES YOU CAN!
