People told me I did. So did self-help books. But I knew until I told that to me it would never sink in. As I began to feel a little self-love, I wanted to do more for me. I knew that I had to do something to reinforce that I deserved to feel good. Hmmmm…. Why not tell myself that?!

So I began to say, over and over “I deserve nice things and loving behavior that feels good!”

At first the words were empty. But I continued saying this affirmation whenever I could. It took on more power when I occasionally said it in the mirror. One day after affirming this, I did something that made me feel good, and felt good! After that the words took on even more power. The more I said it, the more conscious I was about looking for ways to feel good and avoiding situations and people that triggered negative emotions in me. This became a powerful tool for building my self-love.

Say over and over “I deserve to have nice things and loving behavior that feels good!”

Feel the words. Look in the mirror. Allow the words to motivate you to look for more ways to feel good. It might take a while but if you continue to affirm those words, eventually you’ll begin to adopt that thought as your reality. Every time you say them, you’re also saying, ” I love me!”
