It’s a great way to feel good and helps you attract more goodies. Now it’s time to turn that onto YOU. It’s so easy to take yourself for granted or lose your perspective if you’re busy pleasing other people. Yet who feeds and takes care of you. You do! YOU are the one who can get your needs met and do things to make YOU happy.

Self-appreciation is a necessity for building self-love. Saying “thank you” to YOU is a very effective way to fuel it.

When I was a DoorMat I was too busy showing people how much I appreciated the crumbs they threw my way to actually notice my own positive traits or what I did for me. And I honestly didn’t do much for me as I had no time or motivation. Everything was about other people and if I was getting their approval. Even when I did something to take care of me, it didn’t occur to me to feel appreciation.

Self-appreciation is the best it can be when you consciously say, “thank you” to yourself.

Saying “thank you” to YOU also says, “I love me!” It shows that you’re not taking yourself for granted and reinforces self-appreciation. The first time I thanked me I laughed. It felt funny and awkward. But I also smiled. And when I did it again, I smiled more. Soon it went from an odd thing to do to feeling wonderful. Now when I list my blessings, being me is first!

The more you say “thank you” to YOU, the better you’ll eventually feel.

If you choose something healthy to eat instead of going for the decadent food you wanted, say thanks after, since Consciously Making an to Eat Healthier is a gift of love for you. If you do something that feels good, say thanks. Every time you take care of you in positive ways, express appreciation. After all, if someone ELSE did something for you they’d get gratitude. Why not give it to yourself?

When you own being your best friend, give yourself the same kind of thanks you’d give when your friend is kind to you.

Write yourself a thank you note for all you’ve done for you. Go to a mirror and say thanks for all the things you do for you. Buy yourself a little thank you gift as you would for a friend who helped you out. Make a list of all the things you do for you that feel good or help you advance to ward making dreams come true. Keep adding to it. Every time you show yourself love, say “thank you.” It will slowly sink in and help you feel even more kindly to YOU!
