Law of Attraction in Action: Throwing Stuff Out

This is post 167 in my series on the Law of Attraction in Action. You CAN use your power to attract all that you need. I do it every day! Read all the posts in my Law of Attraction in Action Series to see how.

It’s that time of year again. The new year is approaching. People are planning for it—all sorts of excitement and affirming what they want in 2012. But one of the best things you can do is go through your living space and get rid of EVERYTHING unnecessary to keep: clothing, jewelry, old cosmetics and medications, the end table that’s in your way, things you don’t ever use, etc.

The more you get rid of, the more room you have for new and better things to come into your life.

I talk about this at the end of every year but I can’t help myself as it’s so important. When I was a DoorMat I also was a hoarder. I kept everything I ever owned, even as I got new stuff. My closets were over-stuffed as were my drawers. There was no space in my home. Everything was filled to the brim. When I moved, it all went with me. It subconsciously made me feel bad about myself. I was embarrassed for someone to see all the clutter that surrounded me. But I was stuck.

When a friend insisted that I read You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay, I succumbed and read it. It motivated the beginning of my serious trip out of DoorMatville. One chapter that had a profound effect on me was the one about clutter. It explained that it was important to clear your life to make room for more of what you want. The more you get rid of the more you attract to fill the space it leaves. That really got to me as I looked around my house. I had no room!

That day I began what has remained a regular practice for me—clearing out as much as I can from my living space. I went crazy the first time, filling bag after bag with stuff to give away. When I was finished I felt lighter, more empowered, and happier to feel in control of my environment. Every year since I’ve made it a point to go through every inch of my apartment by the end of the year and get rid of everything I can. I begin in November and by New Years Eve my place is cleansed.

When I clear things out I tell the Universe to bring it on! You’ll attract so much more when you make room for it.

Getting rid of stuff you don’t need also feels good. Gail Blanke, author of Throw Out Fifty Things – Clear the Clutter, Find Your Life talks about this in the article she did as my guest, What’s The Cure For Inertia, Stagnation And Utter Depression? Throw Out Fifty Things!

Getting rid of stuff creates a feeling that you’re in control of your living space instead of it controlling you, because you are! I love to take control all year round but it’s especially important to enter the New Year as clear and clutter-free as possible. Make room in your living space for great things in 2012 and beyond. Then the Law of Attraction will pick up your message and support you in getting so much more!

Thank you for another great lesson, Daylle. You are such an inspiration to me. I need the nudge to get rid of my surrounding clutter. It really does create depression, It does. Just the extra weight of the unnecessary. Out! Out! lol.

Too, I adore Louise Hay. She and Dr. Wayne Dyer have been growing old and yellow on my shelves for years now. The books are dog-eared but (as much as I love my new Kindle) will remain in parchment as long as they hold. What fabulous minds. Heal Your Life and Spiritual Solutions (Dr. W) are a must for every seeker (in my humble opinion :-)

Anyhow, just stopping by to wish you a wonderful holiday. I love your spirit and feel blessed that our paths crossed. You are one amazing woman. I will look forward to increasing my status as a Reovered Doormat in 2012! Blessing for all you do.

Cheers!

Getting rid of “stuff” is truly liberating. It is like taking pounds off your shoulders. It is also a way to share what you no longer utilize with someone who can make good use of it.
