Today is Day 7 of my 31 Days of Self-Love posts to celebrate Self-Love Month with suggestions for jumpstarting your own self-love.

We can get very practical in our decisions when we’re busy and these days who isn’t busy? In the quest to get everything done and keep up with social networks, we can lose track of just having some fun. I used to feel guilty playing a game on my computer or dancing around my apartment to music I love. Then it hit me.

If something makes me feel good, it’s loving to do it, no matter how much it’s just a time waster.

It’s okay to waste some time! Everything we do doesn’t have to be for an end result or definitive purpose. I’d gotten so caught up in life that I forgot to just be spontaneous and forget obligations for a bit. Watch how kids play. They run around, make faces and just change tracks quickly to try something else. While they all may be doing something different, their smiles and screams of laughter reflect joy, which is an essential component of life.

Think about what you can do to let loose and just have fun doing. Then do it!

If it’s fun, it’s good, AND, it’s loving since you’re giving yourself joy. Go play with some kids. Swing on a swing. Build a sand castle. Get in touch with the child-like joy you had when you were young. Get a group of friends together to play ball or hopscotch. It doesn’t matter if it’s silly as long as it puts a smile on your face. That says, “I love me!”
