* book_coverSoon 2014 will be here. January can be a dreary month, depending on where you live. Yet most of us like the idea of starting the year on a positive note. That can be hard if your resolutions seem daunting and you don’t know how to lose the 25 pounds, or make more money, or find love from a romantic partner.

There is something you can do to jump-start 2014—commit to yourself. That’s the motto of The Self-Love Movement™ I started. I used to look forward to a new year, hoping it would change my life for the better. But it never did. Then I’d feel down and hope the next year would improve my life. I learned what I was lacking—a commitment to me!  I rarely thought about what I’d like, aside from the big changes. I wanted to get the great body, a wonderful boyfriend, a major career opportunity—all external things. None of my “wishes“ fed my soul.

The first year I made an effort to focus on what was good for me, and the small things that would make me happy, was an eye-opener. The little things I did for me kept me smiling. That felt good and motivated me to want to do more for myself. That was a good year for me. The more I did for myself, the more I began to value me. That built the foundation for my strong self-love.

If you want to have a terrific 2014, I highly recommend starting the year by committing to be loving to yourself. That means taking good care of you and doing things that make you smile, such as:

•    Make time to visit someone you care about.
•    Take a break to be outside on a nice day.
•    Clean your workspace, closets or your whole living space.
•    Remember to take your vitamins every day.
•    Pass on eating something unhealthy.

You can read my 2012 31 Days of Self-Love posts HERE and my 2013 31 Days of Self-Love Posts HERE. January is Self-Love month. So I’ve changed the 31 Days of self-love commitment pledge on  The Self-Love Movement™ website to “I commit to do my best to do something loving for myself, however big or small, for the first 31 days of 2014.”  Even if you’ve taken the pledge already, you can take it again and begin 2014 on a loving path.

Jump-start a happier life by committing to do something loving for YOU for the whole month of January. And join The Self-Love Movement™ by sharing the link with friends. The more self-love in the world, the better the world will be!
