A Deeper Understanding of Visualization and Manifestation

posted by Guy Finley

QUESTION

You say to “want what God wants.” Do you mean to not visualize what we would like to manifest for ourselves? Is that wrong to do? Are having expectations for a better journey in life an illusion?

ANSWER

There is nothing wrong at all with visualizing what one wants to manifest. We must do this in our daily lives in one of a thousand ways or we wouldn’t cook a good meal, clean our bodies well, or even communicate our intentions to others.
The “catch” here, and it is a subtle one, is that while we are required to imagine what we need to satisfy our physical being, such desires are incapable of solving our inherent spiritual/psychological sense of feeling somehow incomplete.
At best, when envisioning some new ideal for ourselves, we are momentarily filled with the positive emotions that come with imagining ourselves out of debt, more loving, respected by our peers, whatever. But, and you will have to work to see this, the whole idea of fulfilling ourselves with any such imagined outcome is born in us from a thought nature that is inherently divided, and therefore incomplete. I will explain how and why this is true.
The object of any desire (regardless of how it comes into creation, i.e., through unconscious appetites pressing themselves upon us for appeasement, or deliberately imagining what we long for) — is organically powerless to bring an end to the desire that created it. Why? Because no opposite can resolve itself. These longings and their imagined lovers only perpetuate themselves, producing again and again the “need” to keep pursuing yet something “newer, better, greater” to make us feel whole (again).
So, in a word, visualization has its place in athletics, business planning, scheduling the day in Rome while on vacation, even in healing the body, etc. It can change many things, but it is powerless to change the one element that must be transformed before we can know true freedom: the nature of desire itself.

The World Beyond Preparation
Preparation, hard work, is part of perfecting whatever you’ve imagined you want to attain in this world. But there is a world beyond anything we can imagine; it is an intelligent presence, a “place” of powers and principles whose self-obliterating touch can no more be prepared for than can a m

As I read this (three times) I think I am understanding this as relating to the fact that the ego is never satisfied. Only God can truly satisfy the need to be fulfilled. Our separation from God is that we are manifest as human beings. That which gives us life is God. There is no pleasure on earth that can satisfy our longing to be complete. The mind is only satisfied for a moment. What ever you are addicted to is your mind hopelessly attempting to fill the void where your human being has lost contact with the “Light” “God” the consciousness of the universe, that from which you came. Our true “being” our “spirit” our “soul” whatever word you use to describe that which is alive in us is the love of God. Please understand, I have no idea what “God” is. Not a wise old man in the sky with a long white beard. I see it as all that is alive, everything in the universe. God is the power of the universe. The “Light” as we are beings of Light our journey here on “kindergarten planet” is to find our way home. We are all seeking God. The answer is that we are all God. IN order to find your way home, find your way to your self. Stop listening to your brain, be quiet and still, listen to your “being” your “spirit” it is already happy, it is already home.
Whenever there is an earth quake or a tsunami, the animals “hear” the warning. We are clueless to this because we are so cut off. Our connection to the earth and the universe was perfect at birth. But now our minds are like a thousand televisions, telephones, and radios all playing at once. Turning them all off takes practice…

Why is it easier to believe in that sometime programming of how it is selfish to want for more than minimal experiences……I banish that now to the other childhood programming that some well-intentioned people insisted was God’s will.
