Let Truth Lift You Above Your Troubles

posted by Guy Finley

The following thoughts are for anyone who has ever felt the longing to “fly” or otherwise levitate in some way, and especially for those who are confused by it… given the great contrast between the weight of one’s persistent fears, doubts, and worries.

The longing to levitate, to fly… is actually quite a natural feeling; for the longest time when I was a child I was convinced I should be able to take this mortal body and soar. There were many interior experiences that confirmed this fledgling feeling, but it took many years to realize that this longing to rise above myself is born from the distant presence of one’s own soul-in-formation.

There lives in us, waiting to be “liberated” from the prison cell of imagination, a part of us that can’t be held back, brought down, or otherwise denigrated regardless of how “muddy” are our own too-human feet. Think of the beautiful metaphor of the Lotus blossom; roots in the mud, stem in murky waters, and the flower… once opened, living in and from the light to which it was called, and from which it is now nourished.

Persist with your wish to find and live in the Light. Let truth lift you; anything else will eventually drop you.
