God Never Gives You More Than You Can Handle

posted by Guy Finley
Perhaps you have heard the expression that God never gives you more than you can handle. And perhaps you wondered whether or not it was true. I’m now going to tell you why it’s the absolute truth.
It’s the absolute truth because any time you choose, you can ask God to take back what He has given you. Any time you choose, you can say, “Dear Lord, I now see I asked for [and now you fill in the blank], and I was wrong. My request was an act of unconscious will on my part to want to be here, doing this, experiencing that [again, you fill in the blank], but now I see what I’ve really received, and it’s just too much. Please, take it back.”
God listens, and says “OK.”

And then you may say, even as you’re giving it back, “Well, let me keep a little bit of this . . .”
And He will say “OK.” And then you’ll keep what you choose to keep.
And then one day you may say, “You know, God, remember when I said, ‘Let me keep this’? Well — will you take that back?”
He will say, “OK.”
At any time you can say, “Will you take this back? Here I am and I’m so worried and I’m so frightened. And I can see that it’s all connected to what I call myself” — and here’s the significant point — “and I would rather be poor, I would rather have nothing, than have what I asked for that You gave me.” And God will take it back.
I tell you this is the truth, but for you to see the full beauty and power of this, you have to find it out for yourself. You must make an experiment of this spiritual inner experience so that you can prove it to yourself.
If you do this work, one day you will finally reach the point where you see that what you have asked for — and been given — has not added one cubit to your stature, either physically or psychologically. You will understand that none of these acquisitions has done one thing to change your essential life. At that point you will raise your eyes and say with true understanding, “I know I asked for this, but now I don’t want it. I don’t want to be a self-supplying individual anymore. All I really want is to be with You.”
When we learn this lesson we understand that it’s possible to ask God to take back what we originally asked for from Him. Then we can begin the process of becoming what we were created to be, which is a point of delightful awareness, a point of light.

Healing from the Inside Out (Part 2)
The next time you experience any kind of pain, you can do something that will turn it into a new and different experience. Each time you catch a pain, admit that nothing you’ve ever done about the pain you experience has brought you the peace or the healing you say you want. The pain always return

Healing from the Inside Out (Part 1)
Life does not come at us from the outside in, even though that is the way we’ve always seen it. Naturally enough, our behavior is based on what our mind identifies as the cause of the problem. We keep fighting the exterior challenge as a means of healing ourselves, but we keep getting hurt. A woun
