Love of Truth

posted by Guy Finley

Question: I love the truth but, truth be told, I struggle every day of my life to remember it in moments I really need to! Though I don’t like the thought, lately I’m beginning to think that maybe my relationship with Truth/Light is more imagined than real… but I’m in the dark about this! Any comments?

Answer: We say that we love the truth, light, kindness, you name it… but in the moment of some trial (as a rule) the first thing we turn to — to act as our guide — is some kind of dark troubled thought or angry feeling to “tell” us who we are and what’s to be done. In other words, though we say we love what is right, bright, and true… what we give ourselves over to is some form of negative reaction. Before we can learn what it really means to give ourselves to Love, to God, to the Higher Life (as one sees it), we must first stop mechanically giving ourselves to these lower aspects of our present nature. This is why all true spiritual teachings say one must “die” before one can be “born.” We must awaken to what is unreal (imagined) within us before we can know the Reality of Love.

Healing from the Inside Out (Part 1)
Life does not come at us from the outside in, even though that is the way we’ve always seen it. Naturally enough, our behavior is based on what our mind identifies as the cause of the problem. We keep fighting the exterior challenge as a means of healing ourselves, but we keep getting hurt. A woun
