What to Do When Darkness Captures You

posted by Guy Finley

If you can do nothing else in some moment of being a slave to some negative state, then at least work to remember your real wish to serve what is right and true, regardless of the cost to you. This higher intention is your connection to a level of consciousness that can’t be dragged down into that darkness through which you now stumble.

Although hard to “see” when so blinded by some rage, fear, or worry… your conscious intention has “eyes” of its own; they “see” what you are now only starting to intuit: who you really are has nothing in common with the conflict you feel coursing through you.

It’s your resistance to the pain that plants your feet in the world where woes grow like weeds. Your intention to see the truth (of yourself), and your willingness to bear the light that shines down into you (from the higher world from where this intention originates) gradually, but unmistakably, release you from the level of self that loves its suffering.
