Not A Conspiracy Theory...Yet

Bloggers are now discussing the infamous "cone of silence" problem from Saddleback's Saturday forum. Rick Warren claims that he didn't know that Senator McCain was not even at the church, much less in a hermetically sealed room, at the time the debate began.  Although this is an indication of the "amateur night" planning of the event it does not prove that McCain or his staff was listening to the interview with Barack Obama.  It would be helpful, however, for the McCain campaign to issue a detailed chronology of who the Senator was speaking with for all the time he was NOT in the "cone of silence"--and what was being discussed.  This would be a far better approach than having the McCain campaign say that it is outrageous for anyone to suggest that a former POW would not play by the rules (which has been their response for most of the day).  Jay, what do you say?

Also, later tonight I'll start a post about a very important California Supreme Court decision that draws the right line between religious freedom claims and good medical practice.

The only cone of silence John McCain could have possibly been in would have been him wearing an orange traffic cone on his head during the ride to the forum so he couldn't hear the radio or see a Blackberry.

From today's news it looks like the pastor knew he had not been in the green room but kept quiet, even after McCain made his joke about trying to hear through the walls.

Fritz: "Is there evidence that McCain had prior knowledge of teh questions Warren asked Obama? If so, let's hear that evidence. If not, shut up!"

We know for sure he was lying about being in the "cone of silence." His staff has finally admitted it. He was in his car, on the way to the event. More than likely listening to it on the radio.

Typical conservative...they only play by the rules when it benefits them. Typical Christian...sin is what everyone else does.

For starters, the NY Times is NOT a reliable source and can hardly be considered evidence. Time and again the NY Times has proven that it has a liberal bias. Also, that is not the typical conservative or the typical Christian. Liberals are the ones who are the masters of double standards. They say that we shouldn't be in Iraq b/c our boys are being killed, yet they support the slaughter of innocent babies who are defenseless. And I'd like to know where you get the idea that the typical Christian thinks that sin is what everyone else does. This idea of yours just shows how ignorant you are about Christianity and Christians.

Please consider your actions even if you don't consider the words you use to express yourself. If you vote/support people who vote/support the murder of the least of God's children, (those who cannot speak yet) you have supported and chosen death. If moral people do nothing to stop selfish immoral people, immorality will flourish. We have been given a solemn opportunity to DO right in accordance to what God has demonstrated through the Life He lived in Jesus. If you have the spirit of the Living God within you, you will put your angers, suspicions, condemning oppinions, and foolish arguing away, choose the candidate that will most likely support the Life of the unborn children and get involved in your local right to Life organization. There will be no democrat or republican organizations in heaven, only those who lived out their belief in Jesus by DOING the will of the Father. The will of God is simple, Choose Life for others.

Senator McCain seemed to be in his vehicle on the way to the church while Pres. Barack was being interviewed. If he was in fact listening to the questions, this was not fair and Pastor Rick should address this at the next Saddleback Forum by making sure one candidate cannot hear the questions to give them a home court advantage.

About Lynn v. Sekulow

Lynn v. Sekulow is an ongoing debate blog--a blogalogue--about how big (or little) a role faith and religion should play in American politics and government, featuring the two leading voices of the church/state battle: American Center for Law & Justice Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow and Americans United for Separation of Church and State Executive Director Rev. Barry W. Lynn.

Please note that in discussing political issues, candidates’ positions and political party statements, the Rev. Barry Lynn and Jay Sekulow are offering analysis in their individual capacities as lawyers and commentators. They are not speaking on behalf of Americans United for Separation for Church and State or for the American Center for Law & Justice. Those organizations do not endorse or oppose candidates for public office. Nothing contained in this dialogue should be construed as the positions of the respective organizations.
