I am 13 years old and looking for movies to watch with my family. My dad looks for all sorts of G movies (like Eight Below, Meet the Robinsons, Because of Winne Dixie) which aren't very appealing to me. So I was wondering if you had any reccomendations for me and my family, but something that feels like it's a good family film for my dad but is also going to be good for me and my 18 year old brother. After reviewing your top family films I've realized most of them are not really my thing and some of them I've already watched. I've seen seven of your reccomendations and I only enjoyed 3 of them. So I really need your help. And I am after all 13, but my father keeps bringing home these movies and it's the same situation in theaters. I got lucky recently, the last movie I'd seen with him in theaters was Martian Child which I found dreadful, then we went to see I Am Legend, which was nice for a switch and I thought, is this it! Am I going to get to finally see some mature movies wih him. Then we went to go see National Treasure 2 next, which isn't bad but it surely is not good. I'm mature, I can handle mature movies, he allows me to see lots of of movies from the last decade that are intense or has sexual content. And as for your best movies of the year list, I am dying to see Juno but he won't allow it because it is 14A in Canada, even though the Canadian ratings are a joke anyway. And I know what you're going to say to me, watch Waitress! I cannot stand Waitress, it was over long, annoying and I didn't feel attached to any of the main characters at all.
Don't get me wrong, my dad doesn't treat me like I'm five, he actually allows a lot of violent, action or intense movies (we've recently watched Minority Report, The Bourne series and Live Free or Die Hard
to name just a few, but I'm trying to keep it as short as possible, which isn't working to well, so far) but he seems more stand off-ish about sex and language, like Juno and he was disguisted at the end of Waitress, because of the affair.
So, now moviemom, it's all up to you! Can you please reccomend me some good but mild PG-13 movies that's good for everyone in my family. And again I appologize for the legnth and whininess of this message.

You really hit the nail on the head with some of these, because a lot of them are some of my favourites (To Kill a Mockingbird, Singin' in the Rain, Butch Cassidy, Some Like It Hot, On the Waterfront, Jaws, Rear Window, etc...). So thank you very much for all the others that I will have to check out the ones I have not heard of (Lillies in the Fields, Shoot to Kill, Narrow Marrin) and as for the rest, they're all already on my to see list. And I was wondering, since I'm already babbling on, do you have an account on imdb?
I'm not sure what you mean by account? Do you mean are my reviews available on IMDB? Some of them are, and all of them will be, I hope soon.
The Golden Compass was okay, but struggled to get to grips with the plot (The prologue was dreadful).
I might be missing the point here, but I don't Christians trust others to make the right decisions? I love The Pullman books, the Harry Potters, etc but neither me or my friends go round saying that we believe in it. Most kids will just see it as an adventure and will grow out of believing it when they are older.... or will at least realise it is only a story!
