Tribute: Bernie Mac

posted by Nell Minow

What a sad loss in the passing of actor-comedian Bernie Mac. The first time I saw him was in the comedy concert film, The Original Kings of Comedy. He played variations on that his stand-up character in Ocean’s Eleven (his car-buying and outrage at a racial remark scenes were among the movie’s highlights) and Charlie’s Angels – Full Throttle, where he took over the part of Bosley from Bill Murray. I think my favorite performance by him in a feature film was in Pride, the fact-based story of an inner-city swim team. As in all of his movies, he had a natural confidence on screen that made him immediately appealing and his pleasure at stirring up a little trouble always kept the audience paying close attention. We will miss him.

I must confess I have never cared for his characters or his comedic persona. However, I do think he was beginning to draw from a well of acting talent that had been overwhelmed by his raw comedic successes. It is sad that he died before his true talent could be explored and mined.

I was shocked to hear about this. I love Bernie Mac. Reruns of “The Bernie Mac Show” can be seen on the CW at midnight M-F. If you’ve never seen it, jestrfyl, you’ve missed a real treat. A situation comedy that is actually funny. Everytime Bernie Mac addresses “America” I crack up.
He was also good (though a lot meaner) playing the “Store Detective” in “Bad Santa.” Not a family film, but a funny Bernie Mac performance. I’ll miss him.

Bernie Mac – one of the true comedians. Probably my favorite. His show, “The Bernie Mac Show” was funny, honest and always hitting home! Every character he played in all of his movies were true to form. May God be with his wife and daughter at this time. He will truly be missed by all!

Bernie Mac was one of the greatest comedians ever lived, as far as I’m concerned. He could make you laugh just by looking at you…..he didn’t have to say a word. Just the expression on his face would have you laughing. There weren’t too many movies that Bernie Mac made that I didn’t like; but one of my favorites was “Players Club”, and I loved the “Bernie Mac Show”. Yes, Bernie Mac will truly be missed but his spirit will forever be in the hearts of many who loved him. My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family….many condolences. Bernie, we will miss you, but God needed you more. Keep Him laughing Bernie, keep HIM laughing! :-) May you RIP.

Bernie Mac had the rare talent of telling the ugly truth in the most palpable of ways. Humor transends most boundries and hence making him an appealing entertainer or teacher, depending on your perspective. He made me laugh, cry, and occasionally a little ‘tinkle’ when he was too funny to handle! He will be missed. May the Mac family embrace and enjoy his loving spirit.

My family are also great fans of the man, the legend, Bernie Mac. I feel He was more than a comedian he was an artist because what he created was original there was no style like his. I personally llove movies that really first put him on the scene like House Party 3 and How to be a player, and Life thos are all movies where he shows his uniqueness and mad you laugh until you couldn’t anymore but you could understand where he was coming from he always gave a message. He will be greatly missed and is very much loved by alot of people so all in all I say R>I>P> Bernie Mac hope to see you when we all get to that better place.

I was more than saddened to hear about the passing of, in my opinion one of the smoothest comediens in our time and he will truly be missed. My heart goes out to his family, although a lot of us did not know him personally, we still feel the impact of the passing of a truly good friend, a lot of us were there right with him at the very beginning of his career, I know me and my family was.I just want the Mac Mans family to know that I hope it lightens your burden to know the world is here for you, and we feel you pain. Take care and God bless.

My sincere condolences to the entire family of Bernie Mac. His sudden desth was a great shock to myself as well as others, I’m sure. “The Mac Man” was a legend in his own time. A true ‘King of Comedy’! He felt like family to me with his screen family on the Bernie Mac show and his seemingly real epilogue into MY family life. God bless his family & everyone that actually was apart of his life.

I had an opportunity to meet Bernie and he stated, “What are you?” with laughter. I am 6’2″ fair skin with hazel blue-green eyes. He had a way of making a person laugh when they did not want too. he also had a positive way of encouraging others to reach out of their box(es). He did and i am glad he did I watch his television presentation with haste and pleasure. I will truly miss him on this earth. But we will ALL remember he came this way to share Laughter, Love and encouragement.
