I loved the way “The Incredibles” made fun of the movie tradition of having the bad guy take time out from doing his evil deeds to explain everything, both bringing the audience up to date and giving the good guys time to do their good guy things.

Having a kid – What villain wants some teenaged rebel working against the villains interests. Dr Evil in Austin Powers had just such a situation. I am sure there are others. Maybe this is why most Crime / Super Villain films do not have offspring as part of the story.
