This was indeed well-acted and tried to be heartwarming.
However, I reject the indulgence = love equation that it is trying to sell to its viewers, as well as the falsehood that money = love.

A very good point, Layne, and I had some concerns about this point. But I felt that its message was better than that — the father made sure the girl would pay for the car herself and the mother made the daughter go through all of the steps necessary to ensure that her daughter had determined the appropriate value and tried to negotiate on her own behalf. The film also indicates that these purchases are both one in a lifetime dreams for the girls involved and that they are truly appreciative; these are not girls who are over-indulged or spoiled.

I agree with Nell ~
I Loved this short … The acting was very good. The story line was
short but filled with heart warming parent daughter moments that we all hope to share with our kids one day. ( it has less to do with the money/ material things and more to do with sharing in a dream) This was the 1st real moving,FULL short story i have seen in a very long time. So much heart in such a small film.
I enjoyed it! It was a perfect start to my morning

Thanks so much, Maritza! It reminded me of my all-time favorite mother-daughter scene in a movie — Anne Revere in “National Velvet,” telling Elizabeth Taylor she would use the money she won for achieving her dream of swimming the English channel to help her daughter pursue her dream of entering her horse in the Grand National race.

I really enjoyed the short.
However, since my English is not perfect at all, I still miss a couple of sentences (specially when young Robin is trying to convince her father about buying the car).
Is there anybody with a complete transcription? It would be a great help because I would like to take the short to my English classes.

Thanks, MAF! I’ve emailed you the contact information for Kate Hudson, who wrote and directed it, so you can ask her for a copy of the script. Thanks for visiting my site and I think your English is very good!
