I can barely contain my enthusiasm for the coming movie. Sadly, I will be away from town - and we have an IMAX theater here, but not where I am going. Argh.

So is anyone planning a Harry Potter birthday party July 31? We often have one, though not likely this year (family away). I may spend the time expanding my LEGO Potter buildings.

Also have you been following the creation of the Harry Potter theme park at Universal Studio, Orlando/ Apparently they have determined that people are more interested in quaffing butter beer than pumpkin seed juice. No surprise there. I will be curious to know what they determine is butter beer - we have been sampling recipes for our H.P. parties. Usually it's a version of creme soda.

I pray for wisdom and discernment for all Christians. I see nothing to be excited about a movie that's content is so evil. If you truly are excited about this movie than I suggest you find a church that is teaching about the supernatural kingdom of good and evil. We need more Pastor to teach the truth and not just tickle the ear.

Thank you for your comment, GLJ. I gather you have not seen the film but have concluded it is evil nonetheless. I have not seen it either, but I have read the book and find no evil in it. Many clergy agree and have embraced the books, recognizing that the appeal of the stories is grounded in the human need for themes that enlarge our souls.

I pray for wisdom and discernment for all people -- and for grace, kindness, and compassion as well. I believe that books like the Harry Potter series are a form of parable that can teach very powerfully about good and evil and that a heart truly attuned to God can only benefit from stories like these. But I appreciate the sincerity of your concern and trust that this comment will be of benefit to others who are deciding whether the film is appropriate.

Aloha.

I am so glad Harry is back on the big screen. I love the world of wizards and dragons and friends that care so much for one another.

I do find it sad that so many Christians have judgments about the films. Jesus himself taught only love and really discourage judgment in any form. If he were alive today I am sure he would simply pray for the love in each person to grow.

I love your reviews.....

With love,

Thanks so much, Susan, and I agree! Love, kindness, and compassion are what we should learn from the Bible, and judging not lest we be judged.

I love Emma Watson, too, and am glad to tell you that she was able to work it out to complete the series and go to college (in the US!). The next film has already been completed and they are now finishing up the last one. She seems like a very classy and thoughtful person as well as a lovely and talented actress.
