While I agree that most of these are improvements on the book, I think the biggest problem of the book is one that goes completely unaddressed in the movie: the abrupt plot shift when the hunt for Victoria is put on hold to stop Edward from trying to exposing himself in Italy. The first one had the same problem – the equally abrupt arrival of James’s coven – which was arguably fixed by introducing them earlier.
