Hallmark Wants to Meet Your Mom

posted by Nell Minow | 8:00am Thursday March 18, 2010

In honor of its new movie, “Meet My Mom,” the Hallmark Channel will be setting up a unique ‘virtual wall’ on its Facebook page, giving viewers the chance to submit testimonials, photos and videos which invite their fellow viewers to meet their mom. In addition, the wall, which will go live Monday, April 19, will also serve as a forum for military servicemen and women abroad to send a message of love and thanks to their own moms from far away, or for military moms to send love back home to their families.

“Meet My Mom,” premieres Saturday, May 8 as a part of the network’s “Countdown to Mother’s Day” campaign, which will include two weeks of programming designed to celebrate the mothers and mother figures who love us, encourage us and support us. Lori Loughlin (“90210″) stars with Stefanie Powers (“Hart to Hart”) and Johnny Messner (“Killer Instinct”) in this story of a single mom whose son’s letter to a soldier brings her a new chance at love.

In the film, recent divorcee Dana Marshall (Loughlin) and her son, Jared (Charles Henry Wyson, “Journeyman”), move across the country to live with Dana’s mother, Louise (Powers), in California. Jared is nervous about attending a new school, but when his fourth-grade class is assigned to write letters to soldiers serving overseas, he finds a friend in someone he never would have expected: Sergeant Vince Carrera (Messner). Jared’s letters hit home with Vince, who hasn’t received mail since his divorce three years earlier, and the two continue to write back and forth. Vince returns on leave and decides to pay a surprise visit to his 10-year-old pen pal, and when Dana answers the door, it’s love at first sight, but neither of them are ready to admit it.

Over the next few weeks, Vince spends more time with the Marshalls, coaching Jared in baseball and getting to know Dana, who, despite her mutual attraction to Vince, is afraid to fall for someone who will soon be sent back overseas. But the more they get to know each other, the less they are able to deny themselves the love they’ve been so reluctant to seek out, and when Vince is deployed again, Dana must decide whether she and Jared can afford to wait for his return.

“Meet My Mom” is an LG Films Production in association with Larry Levinson Productions. Larry Levinson is the executive producer, Randy Pope, H. Daniel Gross and Michael Moran are the co-executive producers and Brian J. Gordon and James Wilberger are the producers. Harvey Frost directed from a script by Pamela Wallace.

I watch and recorded MEET MY MOM. I thought it was a beautiful story, about love, supporting our men at war, and most of all ending a relationship than someone comes along and the magic happens again. I wish this could happen in real life, But who knows ? I wish there was going to be a part 2 , So we can see him come back healthy , happy and most of all be with his new family. Thank You for such a moving story.Brought tears to my eyes. The actor was really cute too, I’ve always had a thing for dimples. Diane

I enjoyed the movie very much and I’m sure that we will see a part2 in the future. The actor was very handsome. A wedding in the future? I vote yes

Yes, I would like to see a part 2. And please, keep the same actors in the movie. Nothing is worse than trying to connect to a sequel with different actors. Even one actor change is one too many.

It’s unanimous! A part 2 is in order for this one. I LOVED the movie. I taped it and watched it several times since the premier. And I have 1 word for the actor Johnny Messner – DREAMY!

I enjoyed the story, the relationship between Vince and Jarred and, of course, the romance between Dana and Vince. I’d also like to see a sequel, with the same actors of course, but just a reunion wouldn’t be enough of a story to carry the movie. Maybe the story could show them at their two locations, communication between them, and then a dark moment where Vince is missing in action, or something like that, and then the great reunion. Other ideas involve a romance for Stephanie Powers or Vince could bring home a little child from wherever he is and the story could progress from there. I’d enjoy any kind of a sequel with these players. It was very heart-warming.

The actress and actors were great. My heart was filled with love. Please keep the same actress and actor, without them the movie would not be complete.

I love the movie and have watched it several times. It truly is a beautiful and lovely love story. There should be a Part II and of course you must use the same actors. Vince and Dana should get married and maybe have a baby. It would be great for Stephanie Powers to have someone come into her life too.

I usually don’t take the time to watch an entire 2 hour movie, but I just happened to turn this one on, and couldn’t stop watching it. I found out when it would be on again and DVRed it. Since then, I have watched it many times and always imagine what would happen next. Hallmark did a great job of letting us get to know and care about the characters, including Lanny and Liz. Like so many others, I would love to see a sequel. I have seen the promo interviews where they talk about how much they enjoyed working with each other, so I’m hoping that all the actors would be willing to come back together for the next movie. Hopefully there’s a great script in the making.

The chemistry between Johnny Messner and Lori Loughlin is undeniable and makes this movie believable. The little boy who played Jared and of course Stefanie Powers provide a great supporting cast. I would love to see a sequel in which Dana, Vince and Jared become a real family.

I agree with the consensus requesting a sequel. I found this movie at Walmart under a different name called “Soldier Love Story” before it premiered on Hallmark Channel. Same exact movie.
I believe this would make a great sequel as long as it had a good ending. Please – NOTHING tragic where he dies in combat. Just a good sequel equivalent to this one.
