While celebrating Independence Day one might stop to think, and extend gratitude to Britain who joined forces to defend the United States of America’s Independence and Freedoms since Desert Storm on through to present day.
While I am not a monarchist I do recognize ingratitude when I see it.
Let us not burn bridges when water runs through it,
Let us all take inspiration from this courage and vision.
I think its time to find a new way to celebrate any day of recognition.

Thanks lightwayvez. One of the lessons of history is that our bitterest enemies become our friends, as we see even with more recent adversaries like Germany and Japan. It is never a good idea to gloss over historical events but it is always a good idea to see them in context. The “special relationship” that has keep the US and the UK as one of the most powerful alliances of all time is well worth acknowledging and I appreciate your thoughtful comment.

Where is the ingratitude?
I for one, am quite grateful to Britain for its friendship through the years and especially for the lonely and absolutely heroic stand they took in the early days of World War II to hold off Nazi aggression, until the US and USSR engaged in the fight.
Remembering an earlier time, when English rule was more oppressive here and elsewhere around the world, in no way affects my feeling toward the English of today, any more than I hold hostility toward contemporary German or Japan because those nations once engaged in vastly more brutal forms of imperialism.
But, history is history. There was a time when England oppressed America. And there have been many times since, when the UK and US have stood together against common foes. I am grateful for their friendship and always have been!

Nell, I heard your movie reviews of AirBender I and Twilight Eclipse III on the KCOST radio station here in Los Angeles, Caleefornia, on Friday and I almost got into an accident on the 101 freeway near the 405 interchange. I couldn’t believe your stand on both movies. I played that tape over and over like 1000x and finally got it. Of course, then I almost feinted and had ER do CPR to revive me. So the way I see it you have nearly killed me twice already in one day and I am considering getting the ACLU involved. 0.O)))

Well, thanks for the enthusiasm, and for listening to my beloved KOST, Mr. Wagstaff! But I am not sure what was so shocking? That I liked “Twilight” or that I didn’t like “Airbender?” If you’ve seen either or both, I’d love to hear your reactions.
I’m not sure, either, which time-honored establishment I am “mocking.” I try not to mock anyone, even movies I don’t like. But perhaps it is you who are mocking me.

My sincerest apologies to you my beloved Nell. I have not been myself lately but I received world renowned care here at Aloha, OR. Who New??? I am better and feeling at one with myself. Ooorah!!! I have not seen either movie but after hearing your reviews I am hoping to take my 17yr old daughter Ashley and 13yr old son Ryan to see them both when they visit me here in Woodland Hills at the beginning of August. Ok I just wrote a huge 300 word or more dissertation to you via this site comment form and when I submitted it I had typed my last name as the email address by accident. I was stuck…I could not go back and I had to restart and LOST all my original work of which I could no way ever repeat.
This example of dependency on technology that inherintly is retarded was the premise for my departure and collapse of my computer consulting business and my being. The fact that computer electronics are enslaving our society as a whole is sickening to the point that I have panic attacks and go WMD.
I have never ever in my entire 36yr old life commented on a blog and I wonder if this thread is my last. I think the world of you and your family Nell so can we please, I urge of you, make this a more personal conversation. P.S. I will happily give you my two cents regarding Twilight III and Airbender I as long as I can give my my opinion about the horrific and disturbing Toy Story 3D.
