Americans Nabbed in Child Porn Ring

posted by nsymmonds | 2:47pm Wednesday March 5, 2008

United Press International – March 5, 2008
WASHINGTON, Mar 5, 2008 (UPI via COMTEX) — Investigators infiltrated a technologically advanced child pornography ring that resulted in the arrest of 14 U.S. citizens, justice officials said.
Officials with the FBI and Justice Department described the ring as a “vast child-exploitation enterprise” that distributed lewd images of children and toddlers having sex, CNN said Wednesday.
Justice officials said the suspects distributed more than 400,000 pictures and movies using advanced encryption technology to mask their activity.
A law enforcement official infiltrated the group. Justice Department officials said the enterprise distributed and sold the material for two years.
The suspects face a variety of charges ranging from obstruction of justice to operating a child-exploitation ring. The maximum sentence imposed for such crimes is 20 years to life.

Life is good! And let’s hope they don’t have access to computers!
What has this to do with religion?

I would have just said these guys are simply deranged and been done with it, but if we want to go down that road one might say that sexual repression breeds perversion, considering that the US is one of the most sexually repressed countries in the world, if not THE most.

I think Iran is a bit more repressed.

Fair enough – although I think that just makes them an even better example of what that repression does to society.

How do you define when it comes to the US sexually repressed?

I would consider our aversion to all forms of nudity a prime example. There are also the public stigmas about premarital sex & homosexuality. Obviously we have the whole melting-pot thing going for us so not everyone is effected by social pressures, but in general our society still frowns heavily on those things.
