Bill O’Reilly sternly criticized the media for describing Anders Behring-Breivik, the man who has admitted to committing the mass killings in Norway, as a Christian, saying that such a thing was “impossible.”
O’Reilly singled out the New York Times, which called Breivik a “Christian extremist” in an article. Breivik also referred to himself as a Christian, as did the Norwegian police, and his 1,500 page manifesto has been described as coming from a Christian perspective. In the manifesto, he writes that he does not have a “personal,” religious relationship with Christ, believes in Christianity “as a cultural, social, identity and moral platform,” which he says “makes [me] Christian.”
That’s not what makes somebody a Christian, says O’Reilly.

The state Lutheran church in Sweden is a government bureau. Many of its members are undoubtedly true Christians, others are not, in that they have not made the personal commitment to Christ, which is required when you do not have the state church.
I have known of German immigrants in this country who were confused by the damands made on them by the Lutheran Churches in this country. After all, in Germany the pastors would be paid whether the people came to church or not. The greatest strength of American Christianity is that it is not state supported.

The only “real” Christian that ever existed was Jesus Christ himself. Everyone else just thinks that they’re a Christian.

Did Bill think of the past when there was much killing done in the “name of God”? In many cases it was a Christian God that was invoked for victory. There has been killing done between Catholics and Protestants as recently as Ireland’s time of “the troubles”. So the killing of innocents by a single person or many is unfortunately not a new occurance. It is the extremests in all faiths that give any faith a bad image. This man is an example of extremism at it’s worst.
