Homosexual activist Lair Scott has initiated a petition that seeks to persuade the children’s program “Sesame Street” to “let Bert and Ernie get married,” reports Kelly Boggs in a commentary for Baptist Press.
“For the uninitiated,” writes Boggs, ”Bert and Ernie are two of the more recognizable puppets who appear on the PBS children’s program ‘Sesame Street.’ The pair has been a staple on the program since it first aired in 1969.”
Boggs continues:
Change.org is a website that describes itself as “an online activism platform for social change that raises awareness about important causes and connects people to opportunities for powerful action.” It is utilized primarily, though not exclusively, by liberal causes.
There are a variety of problems with Lair’s petition, which has more than 7,500 signatures.
First of all, it assumes Bert and Ernie were created and/or intended to project or promote homosexuality, an assumption Sesame Street strongly denies. In a statement on its Facebook site, Sesame Street insisted its puppets are not intended to have a sexual orientation.
“Bert and Ernie are best friends. They were created to teach preschoolers that people can be good friends with those who are very different from themselves. Even though they are identified as male characters and possess many human traits and characteristics (as most Sesame Street Muppets do), they remain puppets, and do not have sexual orientation,” the Sesame Street statement read.

Our Father in heaven never teaches that gay marrages are permited in God’s design in His creation of the world!!!!! In the eyes of God, it is total perversion for all that participate!!!!!!!!!!

I didn’t even take the time to read this article, the title was enough for me. Just another trick of the devil trying to get at our kids. What, it’s not enough that gays can foster and adopt now? Foster Care is to teach family values,get these families back together, if possible,to show these children a better way of life, and give them love and encouragement making them successful adults.

I hope that Sesame Street et CO will fight this bullying concerning Bert and Ernie. It’s a shame that there is so much of this “gay right” being shoved down our throat. But then whom do we have to blame but ourselves. It isn’t just the puppets, it seems to be every program if not out right “gay” oriented, then the innuendoes. If it gets to it where a sex has to be given to “bert & ernie” then have them get married to newly established “female puppets”. Stand Your Ground or you’ll end up not having ANY to STAND ON.

Bert and Ernie are room mates and were not supposed to be anything else but that. Leave them alone and let them be. If folks want to make every same gender set of room mates “gay” or “lesbian” then they must start worrying about other men who lived together —Batman & Robin, Mutt & Jeff (for those old enough to know they were),Levern & Shirley and an extreme—the 3 Stooges and I could go on. Bert and Ernie are just fine, thank you and have contributed to a great program for many, many years.

Homosexuality is not right. It’s against God. Sesame Street cannot allow this to happen no matter how many signatures this petition gets. Bert and Ernie have been teaching children for decades, and are fine as they are. Having them marry each other would just confuse too many children & upset too many parents. Much less God.

SHOULD THEY WANT TO CHANGE AN GO BACK TO GOD’S UNCHANGING HAND OF MERCY AN FORGIVENESS THEY COULD READ THESE SCRIPTURES FOR GOD IS A FORGIVING GOD FULL OF LOVE AND UNDERSTANDING AN LONG SUFFERING HOPEFULLY THEY WILL READ THOSE SCRIPTURES.ACTS 2;38
