Sexual promiscuity may cause heart attacks

The sexually transmitted Human Papillomavirus, known to be the leading cause of cervical cancer, has also been linked to increased risk of heart attack according to new research released this week.

“Women with cancer-causing strains of HPV may be at increased risk for cardiovascular disease and stroke, even when no conventional risk factors are present,” reports John-Henry Westen for LifeSiteNews:

Researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston are the first to investigate a potential connection between cardiovascular disease and HPV, one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in the U.S. Their findings are published in the November 1st issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

“Nearly 20 percent of individuals with cardiovascular disease do not show any risk factors, indicating that other ‘nontraditional’ causes may be involved in the development of the disease. HPV appears to be one such factor among women,” said lead author Dr. Ken Fujise, Director, Division of Cardiology at UTMB.

HPV is almost inexistant among monogomous couples who have never had sex with anybody else. However, it has spread to epidemic proportions with relaxation of society’s taboos on promiscuous sexual relations.

All this study says is, “Some people have cardiovascular disease and we don’t know why, and some these same people also have HPV.” It’s a weak correlation at best, not proof of anything.

This article makes me wonder if people who have many sexual partners are not interested in having a healthy life style in any way, they might not care if they get a sexually transmited disease or a heart condition or any other disease. Lack in self-esteem leads to lack of health?

I’m so glad I was married for 23 yrs, however, that does prove that it lowers the chances of contracting an STD,but not always, being a widow for 2 yrs it’s astonishing (surprizing) how the values & morals of people have gone down the tubes…As far as the women w/ poofy hair…They r just being very cautious about who they match up with & I agree that they should in this era:)

Hello,
Unless you are willing to reveal the complete data set used for this type of statement it is just that, another batch of useless data that might imply something. Also because it is a primary finding how can you dare correlate it across the entire population of promiscuous or monogamous individuals. By the way how did you define promiscuous, oh probably more than one partner, you need to stop with the scare tactics of pushing a cancer causing drug that some drug company isn’t making the kind of money they felt they should, be responsible about your research.

So there you are, from an old spiritual song: “It’s in the Bible, But it still is news . . . ” promiscuity is bad for you!
Do you suppose there is anything else in there relevant to the enormous hole we are digging ourselves in to?

I have to say I have never felt upset by anything I have read on this site until now. I was just diagnosed with HPV and I am not at all promiscuos! According to my doctor and research, almost everyone at one point or another in their lives will contract HPV. The way that this has been worded in your story is very upsetting and I am extremely unhappy with it.
