President Obama is coming under criticism for delivering a Thanksgiving Day message that never mentions the Almighty — presumably the one to whom the day is dedicated. In the original Thanksgiving feast, the Pilgrims at Plymouth Colony certainly didn’t hold the event to give thanks to themselves or the Native Americans.

In fact, the first Thanksgiving was originally planned as a day of prayer and fasting, offering thanks to God for delivering the colony from starvation.
In his message to the American people establishing the first Thanksgiving Day as a national holiday, President Abraham Lincoln said:
The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God.
Lincoln then lists a number of things for which he was thankful, noting:
No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy. It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People.
I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.
And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquillity and Union.
So, why isn’t God mentioned in Obama’s message to America?

as a “native” American, leave the President alone. and as far as a dinner every year to honor “us”? well, we’ll just leave that be. happy thanksgiving, and let’s hope what happened to the “natives” doesn’t happen to anyone again.

Obama doesn’t believe in the God of most Americans. He is a Muslim at his core and will never be anything else.

The whole duty of man is to fear God and obey his commandments. Regardless of wether we chose to admit it, we were all created by Almighty God who knew us before our parents even conceived us. When we pass out this life and into eternity, we’d better be right about our knowledge and relationship with him or there will be eternal and Hellish consequence to pay in a place where there will be weeping and nashing of teeth where all who go who thought they were serving God or not. The pride of life is fleeting and deceptive. Is the price of the souls eternal destination worth taking a chance on denial of the Almighty, man’s doctrine, a fad or a whim. Rest assured the Lord Jesus does not have to prove himself to anyone or force anyones hand to serve him, but we must always remember, he is eternal and we are temporal, and will all answer to him at his appointed time for us…….
