There will be no 4th of July fireworks display in Chula Vista, California — or anywhere in the San Diego area if a state judge’s ruling stands.

Nearby, LaJolla officials said they may have to cancel their city’s annual fireworks after new environmental impact rules were imposed on all such shows in the southern tip of California.
Fireworks shows are among thousands of events that will require environmental review under a new California court ruling. Such impact studies can take a year and cost tens of thousands of dollars.
Alex Roth, a spokesman for La Jolla Mayor Jerry Sanders, called the suit a “bizarre crusade to stop fireworks.”
“What’s next,” he asked, ”a lawsuit against swimmers for polluting the ocean with their suntan lotion?”
What started as a court battle over fireworks has resulted in new regulations that could cancel a wide range of special events – including the area’s annual Rock ’n’ Roll Marathon and even private birthday parties held at public parks.
Marco Gonzalez, who brought the suit on behalf of a local environmental rights foundation, said he was delighted with the ruling — and shrugged off criticism that his lawsuit was unpatriotic.
“If you were to sum it up with one word, I would say ‘vindication.’ It’s vindication for the environment and it’s vindication for my client because of the amount of disparaging comments and general negativity that was thrown our way,” Gonzalez said. “There are a whole host of impacts that we know occur from fireworks shows, from marine mammals to marine birds to water quality to traffic to noise to the air.”
Before the judge’s ruling, the lawsuit had already spurred regional pollution regulators to adopt new rules for fireworks shot over beaches and bays.
“I think banning fireworks on the Fourth of July is un-American,” said Tony Manolatos, a city spokesman, “and I think the majority of San Diegans would agree.”

I can understand why California is broke now. These weird people that have a say in some of these communities have smoked too much of some substance when they were younger. The cost of these studies border on insanity, as well as the banning of fireworks on the Fourth. We are experiencing some of the same mind set in Washington D.C. If I were the people of these communities, it would be of much importance to ship them to Washington, to join their other Dumbaxxxx. Our Country is going wacko. No prayer in school, Quxxxx in the military, 4th Amendant, no more privacy, Trying to take away our 2 Amendment rights, and so much more. Just tells you what has happened to the courts decisions of not correcting children with a whack on the butt. We need to get back to the basics in correction of children, then maybe they would grow up to be responsible adults.

Just another example of aparently unqualified, radical, and stupid fool judges making law from the bench! Not to mention totally unconstitutional, unconsionable nonsence and stupid. It is time to go back to small government that is actually elected by WE THE PEOPLE.

Instead of outlawing fireworks the judge should outlaw war. That has a much greater environmental impact than fireworks.Just one more case of insanity in politics.

Yeah right… take away the Fireworks the people enjoy watching… why not? ‘They” are taking every other thing away. The Judges are busy making us miserable because they are the miserable ones. They think because they have some kinda power they should invoke us with it so they can be happy. If we don’t stop this crap they won’t have nothing to take away. This is AMERICA and we have enjoyed fireworks all our lives and then some numbnut says “they are banned”..Someone is working overtime to break the AMERICAN Spirit and break us all..

Who the hell is Marco Gonzalez anyway and who needs his attitude to begin with? Go to Iran or Iraq Marco and tell them how to run their government. We don’t need you here or want you here Spud. If you have aproblem with making people happy then do like Micheal Jackson says. Beat it just beat it.

I think it is wrong to take away all of our freedoms, and our rights to enjoy the 4th of July. “WE THE PEOPLE” American Citizens, should have the right to celebrate our Independence. I don’t like to have snotty people in office,or judges dictate,or tell us how to live. I hate people, who think they have power, control, greed of money over every one else,so stop telling us how to live, stop dictating the American people.
