A Precious Human Life

Every
day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to have woken up, I am
alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it, I am
going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out
to others, to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings, I am
going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry
or think badly about others, I am going to benefit others as much as I
can.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama

There were many more good sessions at the Wisdom 2.0 conference this weekend. The intention of the organizers is to post videos. I'll let you know when. Here are some of my notes from a second panel. How do we use modern, social media technologies — such as this blog — to both further o

Wisdom 2.0
If a zen master were sitting next to the chief technical officer of Twitter, what would they talk about? That sounds like a hypothetical overheared at a bar in San Francisco. But this weekend I saw the very thing at Soren Gordhamer's Wisdom 2.0 conference — named after his book of the same nam

Ludicrous to suggest thinking of being kind to all sentient beings while basting a turkey that has been tortured for all its suffering life and brutally slaughtered for the enjoyment of the baster and its family. Totally ludicrous. Please wake up Ethan…

Are you suggesting the life of a plant is less valid than the life of an animal? Because like it or not, the plants that vegetarians eat are very much alive. Just because they don’t live in a similar since that we do does not make them any less alive. Life must destroy life to live, it is a sad but honest part of the continuation of any life.
To think that you are better than others because of the type of life you extinguish to continue your own is ludicrous.
I myself am a vegetarian, but I don’t attack others who choose to eat meat. Unless you are a Buddha, and your ways are without fault, it would be wise to better yourself instead of assaulting the ways of others. Happy Thanksgiving.

you are absolutely right , nobody has a right to put others down for the way they stay alive, so all you vegetarians who think your better than meat eaters because you don,t eat meat get a clue or stop killing plants so that you can eat them !

each of you need only “shut up” and live and let live! have anyone of you helped someone lately? perhaps give of yourself so that another might benefit and have one day happy and feel priceless? now i suggest strongly that you take the turkey out of your ears, stick it in your mouth and listen to the real mewssage that people right in your own home are sending you. this is all self centered, preoccupational hog wash the real meaning of wholesome living is generosity, not judging. now go and give of yourself and stop the yata yata yata’s! merry xmas!
