Interesting vid but I don’t like the neon hand seemingly being the uncaused cause behind events….points to a Creator/Ultimate Cause which is incompatible/illogical with non-Theist Buddhist philosophy….

@ Joe I love the Doctor Who intro!
@ Adele – The title and the neon hand seem to indicate some sort of ultimate creator narrative, but I interpreted it more on a level of personal perception. As an entity in the universe I am constantly “touching” phenomena with my sense perceptions. From a mind only perspective aren’t I then taking part in “creation” of forms in each moment?

the Buddhist tradition includes people who chant the name of Amida Buddha, just like someone would chant the name of “Allah” or “Jesus.”
it is not accurate to say that the Buddhist tradition is devoid of belief in God.
Buddha said that he lived previous lives, he referred to the Indian cosmic gods (which are like the Western archangels), that implies the Hindu cosmology, in which there is a Supreme Being.
It may not help to achieve the goals of the Buddhist path to think about some guy on a throne in the sky, but that does not mean that Buddhism implies either atheism or agnosticism.

@Anan – Thanks for the clarification. I don’t know enough about Buddhist cosmology myself to really dig in to the topic, but I think you made the main point for me:

Amida Buddha is not a “god”. You can interpret the deities in lots of ways but none of those will include “god” and certainly not the Judeo Christian creator god.
