The Miracle of Music: from weight loss to the common cold

Did you know that music activates the same feel good center of your brain that food does? It's true!

Listen to music: Lose weight. (Wow, that was easy!)

And ... there's more . . .

Fight Off the Common Cold: Listening to music lowers the stress hormone cortisol, boosts the feel-good endorphins and fortifies the immune system by raising levels of immunoglobulin A, a prime defense against upper respiratory infection.

Chase those blues away: There are minor chords and major chords; and while the minor chords tend to bring you down, the major chords can and do raise the spirits. Music sweetens temperament, increases feelings of optimism, calm and joy.

Spin Sister: Listen to music while spinning, running, trotting and your endurance levels will soar. You'll hang in there longer and feel happier for it.

Sleep Baby Sleep: Play 45 minutes of your fav soft music before you get into your comfy bed and you will effectively lower your heart rate, slower your respiration and enjoy a good quality sleep.

What's your favorite genre of music? What gets your booty to shakin'? What calms and soothes? What's your favorite lullaby? Leave a comment or write me.

Weighty Confession: Vitamin C as Sweet Tarts or Expensive Urine

Forgive Me for I Have Sinned

It's true. Me, Queen of Permanent Fat Removal, was overtaken by a container of chewable Vitamin C.

Knowing that there are experts who feel that taking more than 140 milligrams per day of Vitamin C is 'safe,' because for the most part, more than that amount results in urine containing the vitamin, gave me free license to chew away.

In other words, by chewing a few thousand milligrams of Vitamin C, I effectively created some very expensive urine.

In addition, at closer examination, when reading the label, I found that this particular chewable C, lists sorbitol as its main ingredient. Ugh.

Lesson learned. In the trash it goes! Another 'red light' food!! Chewable C. And next time I have a craving for sweet tarts, I'll have some. 8 sweet tarts = 60 calories!

A Hump Wednesday Laugh: Falling Down

Further my Monday's rant on my inability to find a place in my neighborhood that can make me a poached egg, I came across "Falling Down - I Want Breakfast," a clip from the movie "Falling Down" starring Michael Douglas. It really made me laugh.

How many of us feel like this when we go into a restaurant and can't get what we want???? I hope you relate to it and laugh your way through Hump Wednesday!

See you on the other side of the Hump!

It's a BMW Monday: Bitch, Moan and Whine

I only just heard someone use the phrase BWM this past week, and I took to it like white on rice. In my humble opinion, we are all entitled to at least one BMW per day.

I invite you to take this opportunity to get whatever is on your chest, off your chest. Go for it!
There are no rules for BMW’s. You can moan about anything you please, and remember – the moan may not sound horrific to the person who has ‘volunteered’ to hear your BMW – and that’s okay. This is for YOU. Having said that … here follows my BMW, which may not sound like a big deal to you, but for me it was! Thank you, in advance, for listening!

My Monday BMW.
I went to a local café yesterday to meet up with some of my friends for an early morning breakfast (8:30 a.m. on a Sunday … what were we thinking?).

Sunday Puzzle: How Long Are Your Roots?

Click to Mix and Solve

The moso is a bamboo plant that grows in China and the far east. After the moso is planted, no visible growth occurs for up to five years - even under ideal conditions!

Then, as if by magic, it suddenly begins growing at the rate of nearly two and one half feet per day, reaching a full height of ninety feet within six weeks.

But it's not magic. The moso's rapid growth is due to the miles of roots it develops during those first five years, five years of getting ready.

How long are your roots? Have 'you' started to grow (spiritually that is) at the rate of 2 1/2 feet per day? How spiritually tall might you get? Comment below or write me.
