More on Water - Part II: Water Fights Bad Breath

Friday April 18, 2008

Further yesterday's Water - PART I, where we learned that water is a natural appetite suppressant and helps us to digest our food. It even promotes weight loss and helps the body to metabolize fat into energy, I'd like to take this time to point out some of the other virtues of water.

Water ...
fights bad breath!
Carry an extra bottle on you at all times and hand it over when necessary!!!

Water ...
helps us to look younger. Skin that is sagging (due to the aging process or weight loss) plumps up beautifully when the skin cells are hydrated.

Water ...
improves muscle tone. Hydrated muscles contract more easily, which makes for a more effective workout.

Water ...
regulates body temperate,
carries nutrients to and oxygen to cells,
cushions joints,
protects organs and tissues.

Water ...
is a natural lubricant. It helps everything slide through your system.

Water ...
helps to alleviate depression!

Drink on that!

I have also heard that sipping on ice water through out the day is supposed to raise your metabolism. I have no idea if its true or not. But it never hurts to try. I have noticed when I feel tired and depressed, I will drink a large glass of water, abotu 20 oz, then a few minutes later I am feeling much better. I love water, and other than my 2 cups of coffee in the morning thats all I drink. The only downside is waking up several time at night to pee.

Hi Janice, I was really surprised to see this yesterday in my newsletter from Dr. Mercola:

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2004/05/05/eight-glasses-water.aspx

I am of the belief that we should all be drinking more and that our thirst is not the best guide to what we need. I've noticed when I drink extra water, I eat less and feel much more centered. It is a practice for me to call myself back in and drink for my health. I sometimes stand at the sink and make myself have a glass if I havent had one in a few hours. I try to start the day with a glass, but I don't always. Thanks for the post! We can all be healthy drinking buddies!

Drinking water is the best way to freshen up. no other beverage can replace its good benefits in maintaining a good health.
