One of the best food scenes of all time is from The Big Chill, where they are all in the kitchen and plates are flying and food is moving, and the joy is the moment is as tangible as the scent of the food.
By the way, you should join efforts with the Movie Mom! Nell Minow has a whole bunch of great movie questions and lists.
Another great food scene - from Hook - the non-food food fight that finally awakens Peter to his real self.
I think the food scene I enjoy the most is from "The Godfather," when Clemenza teaches the young Michael Corleone how to make tomato sauce "in case you have to cook for twenty guys one day..." (the secret: a pinch of sugar). Love it!
My favorite food scene is from Amelie, when the narrator is listing all the things Amelie likes, and among them is cracking open a creme brulee. She looks so excited, and the creme brulee looks so delicious. :)
I loved the scenes in Chocolate where the Chocolate candy maker cant figure out Johnny Depp's favorite kind of Chocolate. Also loved when Scarlet declared"she would never go hungry again" funcontest
My favorite movie food scene is the scene in Peter Pan starring Robin Williams where the Lost Boys are trying to get him to use his imagination and wonderfully he does use his imagination and there is all this colorful food that they then nicely turn into a food fight.
The Katz Restaurant scene in "When Harry Met Sally". Rob Reiner's mother Estelle Reiner, plays a customer in Katz Restaurant, who witnesses Meg Ryan's 'demonstration' to Billy Crystal. Impressed by the such a realistic act of faking orgasm, Estelle Reiner says "I'll have what she's having" referring to what Meg Ryan had been eating.

My favorite food scene is in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where Violet eats a piece of gum that is supposed to taste like a whole meal yet when she gets to dessert she turns into this huge blueberry and has to be rolled off to be be squeezed back to her normal shape.
In the movie version of Roald Dahl's "Matilda," a pudgy boy is forced to devour a whole chocolate layer cake in front of the entire school, as a punishment. The cake appears so enticing, but before the end the boy begins to falter, and his fellow students cheer him on to finish the cake!
The first scene that popped into my mind was from "When Harry Met Sally," even though it doesn't involve food. Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal are in a diner having lunch. Their conversation turns to the topic of sex. They are discussing a woman faking an orgasm. Meg Ryan demonstrates how it can be done. An older lady at another table says to the waiter "I'll have what she's having."
My 1st thought was also "I'll have what she's having" but I realized that was also the scene where she nearly drives her server nuts because she wants it her way - with things on the side. That is the way I order food and it was comforting to know that's OK.
My favorite is from Joy Luck Club. The family is all eating this delicious crab dinner. Then Mother and Daughter have a serious talk in the kitchen about how her cousin always takes "best quality crab", and you take "least quality". Then her Mom tells her she is a wonderful person but she undervalues herself. It makes me cry every time I see it.
I though about this and the dinner scene where ralphy (from a christmas story) how he was afraid that he was going to get it and then his mom passed the potatoes and saved him from a fate worse than death -There is food and Redeemation in this story!
AUSTIN POWERS created an other ego and another and another. OK, it was Mike Meyers playing an obese
man with whom I will share the initials of the name, as the name includes a curse. F. B. lied in his bed just shoving more and more fried chicken down his throat. F. B. was obese, unattractive and eating away without apologizing for his gross behavior. In the 3rd AUSTIN POWERS MOVIE, GOLD' F.B. lost over 100 lbs and when he waved to Austin, the extra skin under his arm moved like a curtain in the wind.
POINT? F.B. idolized food. This character is very funny. However, it's a character nobody feels comfortable being even if we admit to taking food in our beds when it belongs on a table with a fork, dish,
napkin and dignity.
I liked the holiday party in the movie BIG. It was incredibly hilarious when Tom Hanks picked through the huge variety of food and found the mini corn and ate it like it was a large ear of corn. They had many scenes of that party where people were just standing around the food bar. The desserts shown looked fabulous as well.
The War of the Roses with Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas when Barbara Rose offers her famous pate and crackers to husband Oliver, and then says "Woof". Of course, the pate was not really made out of Oliver's dog, but he thinks it was, and the dawning look of shock on his face is just priceless.
My favorite food scene is from Tortilla Soup, where the father, played by the wonderful Hector Elizondo, is cooking Sunday dinner for his family of three grown daughters. He makes this healthy colorful food look so fabulous -- and I wanted to be in his family! This is a really great movie not too many people know about -- and what a satisfying ending! Check it out.
There are also some great food relishing moments in Chocolat, another favorite movie of mine with Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp.
how about Ratolille's food critic at the end of the movie who says, great food should make you think of loved ones and happy memories and that helps the food be great.
or some times life doesnt turn out like you planned like the dogs stealing the turkey and the family going to chinese resturday for dinner
or it just hit me, the scence in the mouse hunt where they stop fighting the mouse and the mouse shows them how to make string cheese....
I aggree with all the movies above, especially Big, when Tom Hanks tasted caviar! That was just toooo funny, and that is my opinion of caviar also. I may be dating myself with this entry, but watching Albert Finney eating in the "Tom Jones" movie is quite sensous!
Animal House FOOD FIGHT!!! John Belushi, "What am I---a ZIT," as he pushes a cream puff out from his fat cheeks...not appetizing, but clever!
"Like Water For Chocolate" where Tita cooks chicken Mole for her brother in law who she is in love with. The whole family is eating dinner and her other sister channels their love into her body, sweating, burning up, enraptured. She finally runs out to the bath house to cool off, but she is so hot that it catches on fire just as a Revolutionary is riding by on his horse and picks her up, taking her away.
For me, these three foods from the film FRIED GREEN TOMATOES are tied:
(1) the cake-box of tomatoes that Evelyn Couch brings for Ninnie Threadgoode's nursing-home birthday,
(2) the barbecue cooked by Big George ("secret's in the sauce"), and
(3) the mason jar of honey "discovered" near the end of the film.
I appreciate the unexpectedness of the tomatoes, the secret/mystery of the barbecue, and the simple sweetness of the bee nectar.

I am trying to find out the name of a movie made a while back, a guy and fellow astronauts are departing they all climb into the sleep thing but one guy is locked out by a monkey, he cant fit in the monkeys sleeping box so he is forced to stay awake the whole trip, he uses the food paste to paint a mural on the celling of the ship, anyone know the name of this movie? calireuss66@yahoo.com
