Depressed? Feeling Low? Maybe it’s the food!

posted by Janice Taylor, Editor | 8:06am Wednesday August 6, 2008

Maybe we’re not depressed! Maybe we don’t have Epstein Barr! Maybe … just maybe it’s the food we’re eating! by Janice Taylor, Life & Wellness Coach, Author, 50-pound Big-Time-Loser.
Are you lethargic, feeling low, foggy-headed? Is your energy waning? Is your sinus stuffed; your skin blotchy? Do you have a headache? Are you finding it difficult to breathe? Are you not sleeping well?
Could be it’s as simple as a food allergy. I know, your picture of someone with a food allergy is extreme. Said persons are clutching their throats, as their faces swell and they unable to breathe. Sometimes that’s what a food allergy looks like, but more often than not, the allergy is flying under our radar.
Many of us have low-grade allergies that we’ve been experiencing for so many years that we just don’t know any better. Feeling blah and achy has become an accepted part of life.
Food for Thought: If your check list of things ‘wrong’ is long, and you just can’t figure it out, perhaps, it’s time to test for food allergies.
There are a number of tests that doctors perform, and kinesiology is an option. (I was told just by the way I am standing that I am low on potassium. So I went to a doctor and got tested, and she said, “You’re low on potassium.”) Or … just become uber-aware. Note differences in how you feel after you’ve eaten something. If you always feed ‘bad’ after peanuts, stop eating peanuts!
And … Always be proactive. Ask your doctor or kinesiologist lots of questions. How many tests are there? Which are the most accurate? How do you go about taking foods out of our diets? One at a time? Not all at once! Let’s be real!!
Spread the word, NOT the icing!

Anyone out there remember the "Manwich?"  In 1969, Hunt's introduced its Manwich Sloppy Joe Sauce and it revolutionized the Sloppy Joe.  It sure was a staple in our kitchen.  My mother, the gourmet, used to break it out on special occasions.   No disrespect meant, Mom.  :) Here's

I know that when I eat a lot of carbs, i.e. pizza, rolls, I almost go into a coma! A nap for 30 minutes usually does the trick….but it’s better off that I just avoid starchy carbs as much as possible now!
