New Words, Thoughts and Foods for the Anti-Aging Crowd by Janice Taylor, Life & Wellness Coach, Cert. Hypnotist, NLP Practitioner,
First, I MUST address the word “anti-aging,” which annoys me and is totally on my last nerve. It is plastered on every product, billboard, and now embedded in our minds.
I’m wondering – how does it resonate with you? I’ve heard other words tossed about. Just last night, in fact, I was addressing a fabulous group of boomers, and they were trying on “Creative Aging.” I liked that, but I fear that if I used that as a title some, of you may think that I am going to ‘make’ you do something on the ‘crafty’ side.
SO!!! I came up with the following word just the minute: Positivimaging.(C) (It’s copyrighted now; dont’ even think of pretending it’s your brain child.”) Pronounced: Posit-iVIM-aging (accent on VIM – of course).
Further my rant, is ‘anti-aging possible?’ NO! It is NOT possible NOT to age; I will instead, ask … “Is posit-iVIM-aging possible?” IT IS! You can be positively find and live the VIM in your positive aging imagery!
The 411 (a.k.a. information):
We are made up of living cells, and these cells are continually dying and replacing themselves. In order for our bodies to heal, repair and regenerate healthy new cells, proper nutrition is required.
When a cell replaces itself, it can do one of three things:
Replace itself with a weaker cell. If the right nutritional foods have not been added to your diet, this could happen; or
Replace itself with a cell of equal health and strength; or
Replace itself with a stronger, better and healthier cell. In order to regenerate these super-cells, we need to be feeding them the best ‘posit-iVIM-aging’ or ‘regeneration’ foods.
What to do? Here’s a partial list of Posit-iVIM-aging, nutrient packed, super foods that will help to keep those new cells healthy and happy.
Fresh vegetables: bell peppers, artichokes, asparagus, broccoli, carrots, pumpkin, squash, spinach, collard greens, cabbage, kale, eggplant, edamame (green soy beans), sweet potatoes
Fresh fruits: blueberries, cherries, cranberries, grapefruit, mangoes, pineapple, strawberries, raspberries, prunes
Legumes: pinto beans, fava beans, lentils
Fish: salmon, tuna, anchovies
Whole grains, seeds and nuts: brown rice, pumpkin seeds, almonds, walnuts, bulgur wheat
Oil: olive, avocado, flaxseed
Water: six 8-ounce
Exercise. A recent study of 250 Japanese women ages 20 to 70, indicated that those who exercised regularly were 5 years “younger.” They had greater muscle mass, better cardiovascular endurance, and increased flexibility–than those who did not exercise. It has also be suggested that weightlifting may slow age-related weight gain and belly fat accumulation.
Stay out of the sun, and stay away from white flour, white sugar, processed foods containing trans-fats, foods high in saturated fat and foods containing hydrogenated corn oil.
AND if you really want to instantly shed a couple of years, you’ve got to get that inner glow glowin’. We look better when we take care of ourselves, think positive thoughts, take time for others, and smile big!
