Chocolate knocking at your door? by Janice Taylor
Last night, there was a knock, knock, knockin’ at my door. I opened the door … (first mistake).
The Inn’s proprietor sent a little box of designer chocolates on a tray with a small amount of port to accompany it. Chocolate and Port! Knocking at my door!!!
Somehow or another, I forgot how to say “no, thank you.” It slipped my mind!! It wasn’t until after I’d finished the chocolate and the port that I remembered.
Should chocolate and port come knocking at your door, here is your guide to ‘no, thank you’ … no excuses now – for me either, I’ve got it all covered.
ne hvala * Croatian
nej tak * Danish
nee dank u * Dutch
ei kiitos * Finnish
non merci * French
nein danke * German
no grazie * Italian
no grazie * Norwegian
não obrigado * Portuguese
nu multumesc * Romanian
no, gracias * Spanish
and when all else fails, try …
no, thank you * English
At the end of the day, a small piece of chocolate and sip of port wasn’t a big deal.
All is forgiven … Move On!!!
Spread the word … NOT the icing!

UPDATE from the road … I went to breakfast and they brought the bread tray, complete with muffins, biscuits, the southern works … and I said, “No, thank you!” … Woo hoo.
Two poached eggs, fruit and dry rye toast! Coffee, of course w. 2% milk (vs. cream!). I’m psyched and back on track!
Thanks for your support!!!

Hi Janice,
Thanks so much for the tip on saying “no thank you” to the bread tray. I will be practicing that tip many times, esp. throughout the holiday season. I’m starting the food season … AKA holidays, 25 pounds overweight, so I refuse to gain weight, too. I have heart trouble, and will be seeing my cardiologist the first week in December. He has given me stern orders to lose 5 pounds before I see him again.
I need your support.
Thanks so much.
A new friend…

Thank You for this tip.
Frequently there is food in our teacher’s work room. Last year my plan was that if I didn’t take the food, I wasn’t going to eat it. I stuck to that plan. I have removed 112 pounds. This year my resolve has not been as strong and the old thought patterns are sneaking in – “One or two chips won’t hurt.” I have learned a great deal on this journey. I know the eating habits and other lifestyle changes that I have made over the last year need to be changes for life in order to truly make this a permanent weight removal and to continue removing pounds. It seems my motivation is waning.
My plan is to continue removing pounds – in order to do this, I need to boost up my motivation. I am looking forward to the daily e-mails with The CHristmas Diet.
