Slim Down While You Laugh It Up! by Janice Taylor
Did you know that laughter~
* Reduces levels of certain stress hormones.
* Boosts the immune system.
* May lead to hiccupping but will dislodge mucus plugs from the respiratory tract! (Oh, how appealing!)
* Gives you a full body workout (works the diaphragm and abdominal, respiratory, facial and back muscles).
* Ever feel exhausted after the giggles? You just had an aerobic workout. (My kind of exercise!)
* Gets those positive endorphins pumping! Laughter invokes feelings of happiness and joy!
* Promotes creative thoughts.
* Creates bonding with your fellow human. Nothing better than a shared laugh!
Here are a few yuks to start your week and to help you bond with your neighbor!
“My wife will say this to me – “Honey, I want you to tell me if I’m getting fat.” And I say, “All right, and you tell me if I start getting retarded.” ~ Jeff Foxworthy
“It serves me right for keeping all my eggs in one bastard.” ~ Dorothy Parker
“Instead of getting married again, I’m going to find a woman I don’t like and give her a house.” ~ Lewis Grizzard
“My mother buried three husbands – and two of them were just napping. ~ Rita Rudner
“We never talked to each other in my family. We communicated by putting Ann Landers articles on the refrigerator.” ~ Judy Gold
CAUTION: Don’t Tease, If You Please … New York University’s latest research indicates that a well-meant joke is more than likely to be taken the wrong way. To avoid unknowingly hurting someone’s feelings make yourself the butt of your jokes.
What’s your favorite one-liner (or two)? Comment below!
Spread the word … NOT the icing!

Dysfunctional Chef: Sloppy-Joe, the Ultimate Comfort Food
  Anyone out there remember the "Manwich?"  In 1969, Hunt's introduced its Manwich Sloppy Joe Sauce and it revolutionized the Sloppy Joe.  It sure was a staple in our kitchen.  My mother, the gourmet, used to break it out on special occasions.   No disrespect meant, Mom.  :) Here's

The Elder Care Blues: Things Could Be Worse ... and, they will be.
The thing about life is that life has a life of its own, and you just never know when ‘life’s life’ is going to show up and where ‘it’ is going to take you.   For the most part the unexpected twists n’ turns are a mere blip in your day, barely noticeable. For example:  You plan on

The Maker’s Diet was designed by Jordan Rubin, a man who, in the past, suffered from Chrons disease. I read at http://www.projectweightloss.com about the Maker’s nutrition plan. This diet is based in Biblical principles and Rubin focused on the four pillar of health in constructing the diet: physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental.

Many years ago I bought a large snail-sculpted beeswax candle which because it was so charming of itself I never intended to burn. However when the time came to find a candle to light in front of my picture of OLOW* I thought the snail would be a perfect representation of my most favorite mantra phrase that my techno-mentor Janice Taylor oft times chants in her delicious missives to us: “the turtle wins this race”. Substitute snail and voila! a perfect daily reminder! With that inspiration I happily and finally lit that beautiful snail candle for the first time and for every morning after that as part of my morning practice when I rededicate my permanent weight loss intention to myself and OLOWL. Metaphors and Rituals! I love ‘em!
Lastly but just as importantly is to state my intention that in sharing this small but joyful story with others my practice that I have described above will be further empowered.
