While working on this portrait of Oprah, it took on a life of its own …
… and somehow or another Marilyn Monroe and Jackie O., both tragic figures in their own way, showed up on the ‘canvas.’ The connection?
I think it’s tragic that women hang their self-esteem on their weight. Yes, I did permanently remove over 50 pounds 7 years ago, but the primary reason I feel good about myself is not that I lost weight, but rather that I changed my life.
And you? What do you like about yourself?
Spread the word … NOT the icing!

I like that I’m willing and able to do something about my weight problem, to get healthy, I like that I have the power to change how I live my life, how I treat my body, how I live. Making the decision to lose the excess weight means that I am being proactive, in control of my life (even if all around me is chaos!)
