Fat TV: Dance Your Ass Off

posted by Janice Taylor, Editor | 1:10pm Thursday July 23, 2009

Buckle your extra wide seat belts folks, because this summer is gonna’ be a fatty ride!
Given the enormous popularity of The Biggest Loser, one could have predicted that a plethora of ‘fat’ TV shows would be populating the airwaves. And so it goes, and here they come!
What’s on the menu, you ask, as you gather your snacks?
Well, in addition to Drop Dead Diva, Lifetime’s latest hit, wherein a thin girl dies and steps into a fat girl’s body, we have on our carte du jour a variety of tasty tidbits that you can vicariously dance your ass off to, date chunky style, and put your legs in a stirrup (Oh, yes, Ruby goes to her first gynecology appointment).
Dance Your Ass Off (Premieres tonight on Oxygen) – A fusion dish of The Biggest Loser and Dancing With the Stars, DYAO brings dance and diet together. Twelve contestants, paired with a professional dance partner, shake, rattle and roll their excess away. Winner loses and gains; pounds and money.
More to Love (Premieres July 28 on Fox) – Luke Conley, a 26-year-old, 6′ 3″, 300 pound former college football offensive lineman searches for love among a group of ‘real women.’ Will there be lots of wining and dining? Does love come in all sizes?
Ruby (Season 2 starts Sunday on Style) – Ruby lost 100+ pounds in season one, lessened her diabetes medicine, and has made some big time changes. Will her father’s death, her ex-boyfriend’s return, or her inability to remember her youth weaken her resolve? Tune in to find out!
NOTE: I was just kidding about the snacks. I’m just remembering when some of you confessed to snacking your way through The Biggest Loser!
More Celebrity Weight:
Kirstie Alley: Stuck in a fat suit?
Rebecca Romijn loses 60 pounds.
Is Oprah hypnotizing you?
Spread the word … NOT the icing,
Janice
