Thunder Pants, Under Pants: A Weighty Weigh-In

Our Lady of Weight Loss: The G-Spot

Kick in the Tush Club member in good standing, "Thunder Pants," confesses her 'weighty sins' to Our Lady of Weight Loss and receives forgiveness. What's your dietary sin?

Dear Our Lady of Weight Loss ~

Forgive me for I have sinned.

I fear that I have sunken down to a new all-time weigh-in low. I was going to my group meeting - wherein we weigh-in - and to ensure the lowest possible number, I painstakingly assembled the appropriate weigh-in outfit.

I rolled up all my shorts, tops, bras and under pants, and one by one as weighed them on my food scale.

Just so you know, thong under pants weigh an entire ounce less than thunder pants.

Signed ~ Thunder Pants to Under Pants

Quick Weight Loss Center

Our Lady of Weight Loss invites you to visit her Quick Weight Loss Center. Never boring, always exciting!

Curiosity: An Antidote to Eating Due to Boredom

For those of us who eat out of boredom (too many of us to count, yes?), it's time to get curious about our curiosity muscles.

"Curiosity muscle?" you ask. Yes, we all have one to one degree or another. Some more than less and some less than more, but we all possess an ongoing, inherent interest in our outer worlds. From our interest in the people we know (snooping), the weather (will it be a sunny day?); how much is that house selling for around the corner? - to wondering about the state of the world, as well as how many trees are left in the rain forest.

We are curious about our inner worlds. What makes me feel that way? Why am I happy one moment and frustrated the next? What thought triggered me to go to the fridge (again)?- to asking the big existential question: Why is chocolate so much a part of my consciousness?

Wrap Your Curiosity Muscle Around This
Those who are exercising their curiosity muscles are rarely bored, because they are occupied (mentally and sometimes physically) exploring their fascination with new people, new things and new experiences. Therefore, if you have effectively eliminated boredom, you have, in turn, eliminated eating out of boredom!

How will you build your exercise muscle? Get engaged in life!

Breathe Away the Pounds: One breath at a time.

Our Lady of Weight Loss BREATHE AWAY the POUNDS.jpgI had a most amusing and enlightening conversation with my husband just last night that I'd like to share with you!

Peter is away at 'meditation camp' (that's what I call it). While talking last night (via telephone), one word led to another and he challenged me to stay aware for 10 seconds. To sit, be with my breath, and count each breath -1, 2 and so on - until I got to 10; and then do it again and again, once more. Three rounds of ten. Follow me?

I responded with great enthusiasm, "You are on! As soon as we hang up, I am going to sit, breathe, be one with my self, count each breath, in and out, 1 to 10 and then again and again."

This morning, 14 hours later, Our Lady of Weight Loss reminded me that I'd forgotten to remember to breathe. That's right. With the dial tone so went my awareness. Clearly, I'm not as conscious and aware a person as I thought I was! (LOL at myself).

However, the entire breathing incident did remind both Our Lady of Weight Loss and me that you can actually breathe away the pounds!

Here's how it works.
Our weight depends on a complicated blend of variables - from how much we move (exercise), to what we eat, how much we eat, how we feel about ourselves, to hereditary factors.

Our weight is even linked to how we breathe.

Breathing can:

1. Affect our metabolism.
2. Affect the quantity of food we ingest.
3. Make us feel better mentally, physically & emotionally.
4. Calm us.
5. Release endorphins, which help us to feel happy.
6. Enhance our appearance.
7. Make us feel instantly stronger and thinner.
8. Revitalize and energize every cell in our bodies.
9. Increase our energy level.

All of this can aid our weight loss effort. Healthy breathing helps us maintain the right balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in our cells, which has a favorable impact on our metabolism.

Instead of stuffing down your feelings with food, breathe.
It's natural. It's free. And it's easy. The trick of it is to remember to do it.

National Lasagna Day

Our Lady of Weight Loss celebrates National Lasagna Day with a noodle and a prayer. Join her!

Today is National Lasagna Day and Our Lady of Weight Loss is in the kitchen, humming a happy tune, as she whips up her favorite dish ... Lasagna, of course! She wanted me to share her recipe with you.

Because Our Lady of Weight Loss is often in conversation with divine forces, she isn't always paying strict attention to what she is doing and her measurements and instructions are sometimes a bit foggy. But hey, can't have everything. She is fun and she does keep weight loss 'lite.'

Our Lady of Weight Loss's KICK TUSH LASAGNA

Ingredients:
Lasagna noodles
1 container (15 ounces) low-fat ricotta cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 egg, lightly beaten
2 egg whites, lightly beaten
2 jars marinara sauce (26 oz.) (read label - no more than 60 calories per serving)
1 bag (12 oz) shredded low-fat mozzarella cheese
salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray 13X9-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Cook pasta according to box; drain.
Beat egg whites and egg vigorously!
Mix in ricotta, parmesan
Fold in eggs
Salt and Pepper to taste.

Pour 2 cups marinara sauce over bottom of prepared pan
Place lasagna pasta strips on top of sauce
Top with half of ricotta mixture and 1 cup mozzarella
Repeat layers of marinara sauce, pasta and ricotta mixture.
Top with 1/2 the bag of mozzarella, remaining marinara sauce and then finally the last of the mozzarella.

Cover with foil; bake until bubbly. Uncover and bake an additional 5 minutes or until cheese is yum-delicious melted.

Let it "breathe" for 10 minutes or so before serving.
Pray and give thanks.

We love our bread, we love our butter, but most of all, we love each other. Thanks for the grub.

Amen

More to Love FOX: Wheel of rejection?

Fat Suit.jpgOur Lady of Weight Loss, the patron saint of permanent fat removal, puts a humorous fat-melting spin on the cookie cutter, diced and spliced TV reality show, More to Love.

More to Love a.k.a. the Fatchelor, as it is now being dubbed by many, was pretty much a cookie cutter spliced, diced and edited reality show. Lukewarm Luke greets the Rubenesque gals, as mildly bitchy remarks are staged, a pool stunt pulled off, a few kisses planted (which make me kind of queasy due to my unwillingness to date a guy and watch him kiss a gaggle of girls and then lay one on me ... yuk on so many levels), and finally, the ubiquitous tears, followed by the ring ceremony.

I was slightly offended when L.L. vows, "to open my heart and accept you the weight (oops ... way) that you are." Am I crazy, but doesn't that imply that there is something 'wrong' with you, but he's so 'big' that he's willing to overlook it? If someone said to me, "I'm willing to accept you the way that you are," I'd don't think I'd say "thank you, you're so great." Anyway, that's just me.

I also thought it would have been way more exciting and fair, if at the point in the show just before L.L. announces who he is ultimately rejecting, Emme, the plus size model host, enters the picture. Only this time maybe she could 'act' alive and animated. Currently, she displays zero emotion, zero personality.

Emme comes out, all alive and wearing something colorful, and in Vanna White style she announces, "Five people must leave tonight. Before L.L. sends you packing, we are offering you an opportunity to leave - voluntarily - with dignity. If you feel that ultimately L.L. is not the guy for you, or the risk of staying and being rejected is too overwhelming, please step forward, and spin the Wheel of Rejection."

One or two candidates step forward and give that wheel a good spin. Will the wheel stop at $100,000 ... or on 'sports car?'

Cleary, I haven't worked out all the details of my version of More to Love. What if everyone stepped forward?

Still the question remains, would you rather marry L.L. and grill meat side by side forever and a day, or drive away with your hair blowing in the wind in the sports car of your choice, feeling good about yourself? How much of a prize would it take for you to leave the show early?
