Our Lady of Weight Loss

Kelly Clarkson SELF Magazine

posted by Janice Taylor, Editor | 5:51pm Saturday August 8, 2009

The cover of Self magazine’s September issue features Kelly Clarkson, digital style, thin … actually, too thin. This Beliefnet blogger wants to know, what’s wrong with being real?
Kelly Clarkson made it clear to her fans that she is absolutely fine with who she is, what she weighs and how she looks. She oozes sexy and confidence, and her fans love her … just the weigh she is!
Then why digitized thin? I don’t get it. She’s absolutely stunning, just the way and weight she is!
To the editor of Self magazine, Lucy Danzinger, I say, “Hey Lucy, do over! Shoot it again and make it real. That’s what we want!”

Very true. Especially in a magazine like SELF magazine. I’m pretty sure the bulk of the interview is about her weight and how its been criticized and such. How ironic is the photoshopped cover?

I agree with your article. I love Kelly Clarkson. I think she looks adorable just the way she is. I admire Kelly so much. I think it would be a great idea if the magazine could do the cover over again. Kelly would never mind NOT being photoshopped. She is so comfortable with her true appearance. I do not buy many magazines, but I am going to buy this issue because of Kelly Clarkson. I have been a fan of hers from the very beginning. No matter how Kelly looks on the cover, I am happy that Self put a true superstar on their magazine.

Self should be promoting self acceptance in women and having confidence in their own skin instead of being a part of presenting fake images that contribute to women always feeling pressure to have the perfect body. Shame on Self magazine!
