How to Love Your Thighs: 5 tips

I was talking with one of my star weight loss clients (you are all stars), who has permanently lost over 35 pound.
Yes, JB is thrilled about that, but she is still having difficulty loving herself, because she’s kind of down on her thighs. They are not perfect thighs. They are not stick thin thighs like you see in the magazines; they are not air-brushed thighs. As you can well imagine, we had an interesting conversation that was filled with aha moments. Here are a few tips that may help you to love your thighs and love yourself!
5 Tips on Thigh to Thigh Love!
1. Write out a list of all the things you like about yourself. If you are short on ideas, ask a couple of good and kind friends. (Caution: steer clear of critical relatives.)
2. To get your day headed in the right direction, start the morning with a few self-loving affirmations. Write them first and then say them aloud. “My loving energy flows through me and out into the universe, connecting with all the Gods and Goddesses of love.” (Okay, a little over the top. I like a touch of drama.)
3. Every night jot down three things that you are grateful for. “I am grateful that I love myself.”
4. Praise and compliment yourself as often as possible. Criticism is soul crushing. Praise builds. “Wow, that chocolate smoothie I just whipped up was awesome”. “I am great.” “And woo hoo! Girlfriend, look at yourself in those tight-ass jeans.”
5. Look adoringly at yourself in the mirror. Accept yourself just the way you are. No kidding, you are really fabulous. No need to wait. Love yourself NOW.
Spread the word … NOT icing!

I have been on a perpetual diet since the age of 13, gaining and loosing weight. I am now approaching 70 years old. Luckily, I started working out about 30 years ago. I have done aerobics, dance, stretch, yoga, etc. But, my weight still bounced around. About 3 1/2 years ago I slowly started to do spinning classes. It takes a little time to get into that zone and get stronger. (I am really NOT an outdoorsy athletic type.) Anyway, the pounds started to come off slowly over 1 1/2 years, learning new eating habits etc. I lost almost 30 pounds by doing the spinning classes 3X week and doing a treadmill workout on the other days; doing an incline routine to 10 and down again. It takes only about 50 minutes out of the day. And, guess what, for the first time in my life, I have shapely thighs!!!! Before, I only wore skirts and cutes tops, sweaters, etc. Now, I only wear pants and cute tops! I am ecstatic and relieved from a life of always worrying about the extra weight and how to cover it up. Thanks for your funny information Janice. Robbin Close

After you’ve built up your fitness levels a little by doing routine morning/evening walks for a while, begin incorporating some time for jogging. Jogging is a brilliant cardio exercise which will end up burning the unwanted fat, and toning your muscles. At the same time, it will avoid the buildup of large muscles. While jogging, make sure that you have the right set of running shoes and build up your speed at a slow pace so that you avoid injuries.

I think that liking yourself is certainly needed however you look, but even if you might not be able to look like a model, you should not give up all. You should try to be relatively thin. When you reach your limits, do not force them, and it is when you can like yourself.
