Today’s Get Jiggy JigSaw Weight Loss Puzzle is inspired by The Blueberry Cure for the FLAT BELLY BLUES!
Got the Belly Fat Blues? The benefits of eating blueberries, a fruit that is rich in antioxidants, has been known for some time, but now new studies indicate that blueberries may be an important component to losing abdominal fat – the kind of fat that is linked to heart disease and diabetes.
Blueberries for Belly Fat Blues.
In the study, “Blueberries Boost Heart Health” presented at Experimental Biology 2009, researchers at University of Michigan’s Cardioprotection Research Laboratory found that the naturally occurring chemical in blueberries, anthocyanins, may change the process in which the body stores and processes glucose or sugar for energy. This change in process can result in loss of body fat, which in turn reduces the risk of heart disease and diabetes.
In the centerpiece to their study, for a period of 90-days researchers fed rats that were bred to be obese either a high-fat or low-fat diet enriched with whole blueberry powder or carbohydrates as 2% of their total fat. The end results showed that the rats that were fed blueberries had less abdominal fat, lower cholesterol and improved glucose control and insulin sensitivity. In addition, the low-fat blueberry diet resulted in lost body weight and fat mass (as compared to the rats fed a high-fat diet).
More research is in the works, but I think it may be safe to say that blueberries are good for you and may well help to cure your belly fat blues!
So … get your Blueberry on. Cure the Belly Fat Blues! And HAVE FUN losing WEIGHT!

My friend told me that blueberries is just to avoid belly fat, not to cure it.. and I think it is true.. As you said above, Blueberries contain of less abdominal fat, lower cholesterol and it means that it is a part of diet food..
In my opinion, exercises is the most effective way to get rid of belly fat..

That’s incredibly interesting, I have been eating tons of blueberries forever. And I have been able to maintain 7 to 8% body fat all year long.
Of course with super strict dieting… But blueberries are awesome!

I would totally agree blueberries are awesome, they have helped me lose belly fat fast and stay at very low body fat all year around, with strict dieting of course…

I think blueberries might help to lose belly fat because basically it does not add fats to the body like any other high fiber, all fresh non-fat diets. But to lose belly fats completely, diet should be accompanied with exercise routines targeting particularly the abs muscles.

It definitely seems that, from the U of M findings, that blueberries lessen the effects of belly fat. They are a good source of antioxidants too, so they would be a good addition to a well rounded diet and exercise plan. Diet and exercise must go hand in hand in order for most people to be successful in reducing weight overall. If you would like to read more about the blueberry research done at U of M, check out the Science Daily website.

Blueberries have many great health benefits. I never thought of blueberries being good for belly fat though.
There are other foods that have great benefits for dieters as well. The best foods for weight loss include foods that are equivalent to negative calorie foods. These foods burn more calories to digest them than to eat them thus burning calories by eating.

Most people truly underestimate how important it is for you to get fresh fruits and veggies into your diet if you want to lose weight. The fact of the matter is that everybody now tends to eat processed foods which is why it’s so important to think organic like blueberries or any other berries for that matter.
As a nutritionist I tend to tell people to also supplement their dieting with whey protein because it contains vitamins, minerals, amino acids and Glutathione- the number one antioxidant in the world. I actually add blueberries to my shakes and I recently wrote an article over here on whey protein shakes you should check out for some great additional recipes.

I’ve found that following a diabetic diet and being dedicated to your exercise routine really helps to stay in shape. Dieting only works to achieve weight loss if used with exercise. Even a brisk walk will help boost your metabolism enough to combat excess weight.

This confirms the importance of having waffles with blueberries in the breakfast. This helps for a flat tummy.

Blueberries are wonderful for their antioxidant properties. Eaten with some low fat yogurt, cinnamon, and perhaps a small amount of oats, they make a wonderful breakfast!

Blueberries are good ingredients for diabetic food recipes. And that’s also good in losing weight.
Anyway, thanks for sharing this article.
