A Riot at Weight Watchers?

Weight Watchers RiotSince there’s been a lot of hubbub around the new Weight Watchers “Points Plus” plan, I thought I’d stroll on over to the local meeting and see what the buzz is all about!
Aside from finding out that there’s a new sheriff in town; in other words, the point system has been reworked and fruits and vegetables are now free – as in no points – zero points, and that I can eat as many grapes as I like, I was reminded that a good leader is key to your weight loss journey.
Whether it’s a Weight Watcher leader, or a television celebrity, or a blogger (oh yes, such as myself), finding the right group and/or person to connect with can and does make all the difference.
Today, Steven – the leader on 127th Street in NYC – had great flair! With a twinkle in his eye, he said, “Today we are going to unveil the new “Points Plus” plan. And we have a red carpet …”
Steven proceeded to pull a red carpet (red hand towel), a spotlight (flashlight) and Jennifer Hudson (a Barbie-like doll) out of his bag and entertain us with his “Points Plus” stories. This leader was a ‘riot!’
So, yes there was a riot at Weight Watchers today! Remember … laughing burns calories. Smiling too!
Add your two cents plain!!! What do YOU think about the new Weight Watchers plan?
More about Jennifer Hudson?

My comments are related to your pointing out that connecting with the right group or individual is an integral a part of the journey. As far as the new points system, I think it’s great that Weight Watchers saying fruits and veggies are “free” – but I think the power for those who find a Weight Watcher’s meeting and leader who resonate with them is even greater.
AND – for those who don’t find WW resonates with them I highly recommend finding a group or coach who does.

I lost a lot of weight from the old system, but when I first started I was still eating a lot of junk. If I was going to get dinged a point for an orange or a chocolate, I typically chose the chocolate. You can still eat junk and lose weight, but the new system encourages more healthful eating, because junk has a higher point value.
I’ve been doing the new program for about a week and I really like it. Learning the point values is a little time consuming, but it was the first time around, too. I have found myself skipping some of my normal snacks and replacing them with fruit. I ate what I usually do during the week and I was able to stay within my daily points. I also still had enough points to go to a restaurant over the weekend and have some wine.
The only thing that I think stinks is the $40 scale now doesn’t do what I want and I didn’t buy mine that long ago. I think they should have done a trade in program to get half off a new scale.
I like the little points calculator, but there is no way to add Activity Points to it.
One lady in my meeting was upset because she didn’t have time to learn the new program before vacation. So big deal, use the old points until you come back. It’s not like the Weight Wathchers Point Police are coming after you.

Like the above person, I, too, liked the new program and agree that a good leader is important. however, the work is up to you and you alone. My first weigh in, yesterday, registered a loss after one week (I go on Sunday mornings) and recommend it to someone who is motivated to do the work!
