Kick in the Tush Tuesday: STOP Trying to Be Positive

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky. ~ Rabindranath Tagore

Greetings Tushkateers!!!  How are you on this fabulous morning (afternoon or evening, depending on your time zone)? I’m just ‘dandy’ – ‘peachy keen’ – maybe even ‘groovy.’

It’s not my style to toss out an empty “how are you?”  I really do want to know … and I welcome the truth.

I was just reading an article that sited some (dumb – so judgmental of me to say that, but it’s what I’m thinking) study that indicated that “they” say that having a positive attitude can increase your life expectancy by 7.5 years.

Putting pressure on people to be ‘positive’ when they’re not feeling very positive is just another way to ‘help’ us to feel like we are ‘lacking.’  Do you know how many people have said to me, “I’m so negative.  Why can’t I be positive?  What’s wrong with me?” …. “I’m trying to be positive.”

STOP TRYING to BE POSITIVE!!!

Tossing a blanket of positivity on a basement full of anger, upset, negativity does no good.  Rather than fighting against what is, which expends an awful lot of time and energy and only serves to make you feel ‘less than,’ let’s look at the truth of what is.  Let’s pick it up, touch it, ‘feel’ it with your heart and soul, accept where you are and state it.

Honesty will loosen than which keeps you stuck.

YOU can only be where YOU ARE.   And once you can look at it and acknowledge the truth of it, you can begin to work through it.

The truth shall set you free or at least loosen that which binds you!  Feel free to share the ‘truth’ of how you are below!  Could be that the truth is “great!”  That’s okay, too.  As long as it’s your truth!

And NOW … let’s journey into this week’s Kick in the Tush Club e-letter, which includes but is not limited to the BEST DIET BLUEBERRY COBBLER EVER!!!, a fun JigSaw Puzzle, entitled “She’s Got a Screw Loose” (a self-portrait???), and from my Beliefnet.com blog … 5 Steps to SUCCESS.  Before clicking through to that post, you might want to ingest the “Success Quotes.”

I am not too well this evening & I don’t feel particularly postive this evening, either. I became a widow 127 nights ago & it stinks. I was given the gift of love with a great guy for 31+ years & for that I am grateful. But now that my soul-mate isn’t at my side, I feel so lost….like a part of me has died. My nature, since I was a child, is one of positivity & dealing with such intense grief makes it difficult not to feel positive. My true self, tonight, is sad, lonely, angry, afraid, lethargic & paralyzed with sorrow. Being strong, for my kids, can be so hard. Thanks for letting me get this off my chest….I feel better for actually getting this down in words. Thank you.
