Qnexa : 10% of Your Body Weight Lost in Exchange for Birth Defects and Heart Problems ???

Seriously folks, you could not possibly believe that the 20 to 2 vote from the FDA that came wiggling, jiggling and rolling on in approving the latest magic weight loss pill, Qnexa, from pretty much the same members of the FDA who rejected it in 2010 is a good thing; could you?

Studies of Qnexa showed that the average person ‘on Qnexa’ will lose 10% of their body weight.  (Please note that they are talking about ‘losing’ weight; no one is promising permanent weight removal.  Lose it and you will find it …. again.)

Do the math.  With the ‘help’ of Qnexa, a person who weighs 600 pounds is likely to lose 60 pounds; a person weighing 200 pounds may lose 20 pounds; and those who weigh 150 pounds and are looking for a quick fix, may lose 15 pounds.

You couldn’t possibility think that losing 10% of your body weight is worth the risk; could you?

Again, to be 100% clear, ‘they’ are offering you all yet another ‘magic bullet’ whose side effects are hardly magical.  These side effects include the potential for heart problems, birth defects and mental effects such as lack of concentration and fogginess.

Dr. Louis Aronne, director of the Comprehensive Weight Control Program at New York Presbyterian Hospital, told ABC News …. “The approval of Qnexa is a major step forward for the field of obesity treatment and is the result of advances in our understanding of the health consequences of obesity, and the resistance mechanisms that make it difficult to lose weight.”

Really, Dr. Louis Aronne?   Is that what you truly believe?  Because a recent post on your Facebook page indicates that you are in favor of “behavioral lifestyle modification programs that combine scientifically proven meal plans and patient support group.”

Dr. Gerard Mullin, associate professor at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine said, “The approval of Qnexa feeds into a quick-fix approach to weight management.  …. The solution to the overweight-obesity epidemic lies not in another effortless ‘quick fix’ but in a painful but permanent lifestyle solution.”

“This is far from a great drug,” said Dr. David Katz, director of the Yale Prevention Research Center. “The FDA panel recommended approval of Qnexa only because the ranks of useful weight loss drugs are so thin, and desperate times call for desperate measures.  Approval of Qnexa would reflect that…desperation.”

Desperate?  Who is desperate for what?  What hand do the Big Pharmas have in this?  Is this politically driven?  Economically driven?  Greed driven?

Who is really going to benefit from Qnexa?   Not you, my friend.  Not you.
If you lose it on Qnexa, mark my words – you fill find it again – and who knows what else you might find along the road:  heart disease, a birth defect?

Think before you pop!

Spread the word … NOT the icing!
