Pumpkin Seeds? The new anti-depressant? If you think that pumpkins are only good for carving, or maybe a holiday pie, then think again.
Pumpkin seeds are not only delicious, they are jam packed with nutrients that are needed to have a healthy body. They’ve been used in certain areas of Europe to treat learning disorders. In China, pumpkin seeds are used to ward off depression!
Depression Treatment
Pumpkin seeds contain L-tryptophan, an amino acid used to make serotonin, a drug commonly used to treat depression.
Drugs often come with strong side effects. Because the amount of L-tryptophan in pumpkin seeds is small, it has similar beneficial effects to serotonin without the negative side effects.
Rich and peanuty in flavor, pumpkin seeds can be eaten as a snack or added to salads, soups and stews. You can even grind them for use in lip-smackin’ good sauces.
