Friday the 13th: Your Lucky Day?

Our Lady of Weight Loss meets Oscar Wilde on the Road to SveltesvilleLuck is thought to happen by chance; it's not thought to be something you can plan for or obtain by intention. Some say luck is decided by our fates, or believe that some fortunate souls are mysteriously born under a lucky star.

At quick glance, it might look like there is truth to that. After all, some people's lives overflow with abundance, vitality, successful careers, and loving relationships.

However, luck is not just a random event. Webster's Dictionary defines luck as "a force that brings good fortune or adversity; a force that operates for or against an individual." So, if luck is a force, you should be able to tap into it ... at any time!

After a great deal of research and experimentation, I am here to tell you that there are ways in which you can tap into positive force and improve your luck. Indeed, luck is the product of our own mental focus and attitudes. Imagine now that by changing your focus, you can intentionally increase the amount of luck you experience in all areas of life.

Are you ready to "Tune Into Your Gut" and "Face Your Fears?" Here follows 13 Ways for YOU to make this YOUR LUCKY DAY!!!

Quick Weight Loss: Not Your Fault?

The Holiday Diet: how to wake up thinner on New Year's Day from Our Lady of Weight LossIf you want to LOSE WEIGHT FAST, then create an Environment that 'Feels' Comfortable, Relaxing and Inviting!

Dark, cluttered rooms can create a disagreeable experience.
Are we merely reacting to the physical space? Or are we intuitively picking up the energy of the room?

Clearing space, cleaning up and creating order can present more than just an opportunity to tidy up. The act of cleaning can also be used as a ritual that frees space of old energy. It is particularly important to clear a space that was occupied by someone who was ill, a room in which a dreadful squabble had taken place, or if a negative person simply lived there.

Here are some important questions to consider as you walk through your home and sense the energy in each and every room. Some spaces may only need a thorough cleaning, while others may need a more substantial clearing - a cleansing ritual - in which case you may have to drum, clap and/or burn sage.

1. What type of environment do you want to create? Energized? Relaxed?
2. Do you want to invite a new relationship into your life?
3. Do you want to manifest prosperity?
4. Are you in a rut; need a fresh start?
5. Are you feeling fatigued; need a surge of energy?
6. Do you want to enhance your spiritual development?
7. Is your sex life in the dumpster? (Check for dust bunnies under the bed.)
8. Do you want to permanently rid yourself of excess weight?
9. Do you want to create an environment that supports your efforts to permanently remove those pounds?

Old energy hangs tight, so while cleaning and cleansing, be sure to reach under beds and in the back of closets to send a clear message that its time for it to go.

It works!!! There is definitely a connection between environmental clutter, mental clutter and body clutter. Declutter your environment let go of the old energy and make space for the new you!

Kirstie Alley, Fat Actress: Will she "lose it" and "find it" again?

Kirstie Alley, Fat Actress
Kirstie Alley, Fat Actress, is set to 'star' in a new reality show that will document her "struggle" to shed pounds. Fox News reports that the series "will trail the 58-year-old star as she "labours" to restore her curves while raising two teenagers in Hollywood." The yet-to-be-named show will consist of 10 half-hour episodes to debut on A&E sometime in 2010.

As you may remember, Alley, a yo-yo dieter, famously lost and found 75 pounds as a spokesperson for Jenny Craig - reportedly going from 145 lbs. to 228 lbs.

While I am sure that the show will be wildly entertaining and wacky (in the best possible way), and while I am sure that Kirstie will lose the weight ... the question remains????

When the lights go dark, when the episodes are in the can, when Kirstie 'loses' those 75 plus pounds, will she 'find' them again?

Cookie Monster: Cute but addictive?

Will the real Cookie Monster please stand up.

Have you made giving up sugar year after year? Have you tried giving up the three c's (cookies, cakes and candy) over and over again? Were you up-ended by a deep and inexplicable craving for Dulce de Leche Caramel Haagen Dazs ice cream? Are you a sugar addict?

Sugar addiction is no joke. For many years, researchers and doctors did not believe that you could get hooked on an innocent piece of candy or sugar-filled cookie, but now studies that scientists have been compiling over the years are pointing to addiction.

While it is true that Chocolate Cheese Cake is not in the same league as heroin, alcohol or nicotine, it appears that some brain responses may overlap. All of these addictions produce a pleasurable response that fuel a desire for more. Can you stop at just one chocolate chip double fudge cookie supreme? I don't think so.

Did you know that sugar addicts tend to be depleted of key vitamins and minerals, which may weaken their immune system? The average American consumes approximately 24 teaspoons of sugar each day. What's your intake? How much of an addict are you? Do you want to get off the stuff?

Here are a few Our Lady of Weight Loss approved suggestions to help you bust your sugar habit:

1. Never skip breakfast. Those who eat breakfast are less likely to crave sugar. Your body wants that energy boost first thing in the morning to get all your gears in motion. If you skip your morning oatmeal, you're likely to start craving that chocolate chip cookie come afternoon. Low sugar breakfasts include eggs, whole-grain unsweetened cereal, fruit, and unsweetened yogurt.

2. Never skip any meal! Skipping meals in general is a bad idea. Eating balanced meals at regular intervals keeps your brain and body fueled, so you don't crave heavy starchy or sugary foods for energy.

3. Get enough sleep. Rest. Once again, the body starts to crave starchy and/or sugary food for energy - for fuel. When you feel the need to nap, do so. Listen to your body.

4. Excessive salt can trigger sugar cravings. Fast food restaurants and processed foods use salt to stimulate your appetite. They want you to eat more! Read labels (I did a little pantry reading this morning. They had to get out the smelling salts!). Make low-sodium choices.

5. Eat whole foods (not refined carbohydrates). Refined foods a.k.a. empty calorie foods such as white bread, cookies, cake and candy, don't satisfy your body because they lack nutrients and fiber. Try eating more fruit, carrots, beets, sweet potatoes, winter squash! They're loaded with the good stuff.

6. And sorry to say - there's no donut in the world that's going to take away your emotional tugs, pulls and pain. Try yoga, walking, talking to a friend.

I know - easier said than done - but no one said bustin' sugar would be easy!
